I love it! I love everything about it!
Only Billy Bob could play this part and he is nailing it. Ali Larter is absolutely perfect as the mid-life crisis wife who treats her daughter like her best friend instead of being her mother. We've all known that woman. You can tell Sheridan has made so much damn money for the networks that he is completely unchecked. The way he frames and shoots this 17 year old character's ass constantly would make Michael Bay blush! She's fine as a character. The son is just sort of there for me at the moment. The gap in his teeth is honestly distracting me. He looks like a real roughneck though so that's a plus. All the roughnecks feel real. The long line of oil trucks at the Babes N' Brews coffee station is a hilarious bit and would absolutely happen lol
Jon Hamm and Demi Moore are awesome, I want to see more of them. I love that he's not a rich snobby villain(yet at least) like I thought he might be and I appreciated when he checked Billy Bob that one time, not in an asshole way but a "I'm the boss" way.
I know there's more to come with the cartels cause I've seen the YouTube clips so I'm hoping that picks up the plot a little more. The legal thing with the plane and the truck is just not overly interesting to me.
The lawyer is annoying but she reeks of a Sheridan character that's only there as a plot device to explain to why oil drilling/Texas/country music is amazing so the audience at home can go "hell yeah". There was a very similar character on Yellowstone. Also the way she just spouts off legal terminology 100 mph to show how smart she is very reminiscent of some Yellowstone characters. I'll probably binge it all tonight.(Edit: thought it was 8 episodes instead of 10, nvm lol)
I like how ever since Friday Night Lights, a clean guitar with reverb is officially the soundtrack to signal to the audience "west Texas"
I see what you meant about why you wanted me to watch the first episode. I think it's fair to say that the episode was written after the Texas/Bama game in 2022! Popped me
Also, I get the feeling that Cooper choking on the legit spicy Mexican food would be Ol' Roll at those classic Pete birthday party cookouts!
