Putin.

There was a guy on MSNBC a few months back who said Putin is worth $200 billion. He wrote some book about it and said Putin only allows oligarchs to flourish if he gets a cut at profits also said Putin and Oligarchs engage in corruption. Honestly I suppose its possible he is in power in the largest and most resource rich country in the world. Would not be crazy if he is stealing money from the state owned companies which turn massive profits.

He is in a way the most powerful and wealthiest individual in the world. Unless Obama is stealing Federal Reserve profits which I doubt.

I think a big chunk of money from these corruption schemes goes to people from his circles to keep him in power. $200 billion is just too much for one man in Russia. Seems like these "experts" are just pulling numbers out of their assess to cash in on popular topic.

Russian people love Putin and most men around the world respect him

Putin is an asshole in every sense of the word. As a person, and as a leader of Russia.

No worries though, the US / EU sanctions will eventually drive Russia into the ground. Though it's the average Russian citizen that'll suffer and not Putin. Russia's economy will be restored back to it's cold war days.

yup, we are all paid trolls here, planning to nuke your silly ass. go cover in bunker asap :)

Russia can't win a war against US / EU. Sure a few nukes might get through, but all of Russia will be destroyed. Christ, look how Afghanistan fucked your asses up!

Wishful thinking there.

Europe is hurting as much (maybe even more than Russia). Eventually they'll stop listening to stupid Brits n Americans n make a deal with Russians.

But keep on drinking western cool aid

He has been in power over a decade if he collected just 2 billion a year he'd be worth 30 billion. Yet conservative estimations of his net worth place him at at least $40 billion. Many other figures place him up to the $100 billion dollar range and the highest I have seen says $200 billion. Also watch the video called Putin vs the Oligarchs. Its clearly evident that whichever Oligarch opposes him he manages to dispose of them.

Considering the possibility that the Oligarchs cut him a nice share of profits to reward him for his complicit corruption with them. And then consider that he as supreme commander of the nation. He could easily have the government underreport the true amount of profits made on Taxes and sales from State owned corporations. Id say a figure of $100 billion really isn't that crazy. He is basically a dictator with full backing from the majority of politicians and people in power.

“I believe (Putin’s net worth) is $200 billion. After 14 years in power of Russia, and the amount of money that the country has made, and the amount of money that hasn’t been spent on schools and roads and hospitals and so on, all that money is in property, bank — Swiss bank accounts, shares, hedge funds, managed for Putin and his cronies,” Browder told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria.

He says when he exposed the corrupt oligarchs who were stealing from the state-run companies in which he was investing, Putin turned on him.

“The power is very simple in Russia — whoever has the power to arrest people is the person in power. And so what Putin does is he has a bunch of guys around him who have the power to arrest people.
“And so it doesn’t matter how rich you are, if you can be arrested, put in jail and have your money taken away, the guy who can do that to you is the most powerful person in Russia.”
Putin has been dogged by corruption claims for years, with The Guardian reporting in 2007 he owned vast holdings in three Russian oil and gas companies hidden behind a “non-transparent network of offshore trusts.”

Due to this particular quote, Boris Nemtsov published a report called “The Life of a Galley Slave,” which claimed that Putin owns 20 homes, 58 aircraft — including jets, and many cars, planes, boats, and so on. Officially, Putin only owns two apartments, two cars, and one garage. When relating Vladimir Putin’s net worth, Nemtsov said according to the Telegraph that Putin “can be compared with that of the monarchs of the Persian Gulf or the most outrageous oligarchs.”
In the end, a true estimate of Vladimir Putin’s net worth is almost impossible, although it’s possible Bill Gates is unofficially second place. The $200 billion figure is probably an extremely high mark since these estimates are largely based upon Putin’s ownership of 37 percent of oil company Surgutneftegaz, 4.5 percent of Gazprom, and “at least” 75 percent of Gunvor. Since these companies rely on oil prices, it’s possible Putin’s net worth has taken a beating in recent years.

In 2007 he was said to be worth around or close to $40 billion

In 2012 he was said to be worth around or close to $70 billion

It's not crazy. Consider that Gaddafi was said to be worth like $100 billion and he was just the ruler of Libya which is nothing compared to Russia.

I just finished watching a British documentary about Putin and it said that according to the CIA he is worth $40 billion!
As we all know Russia is very corrupt and in a terrible mess. The average monthly income in Russia is around $800. While the average in India is around $1100 a month. So the average Russian is poorer than the average Indian!

Putin is in power at least til 2024, which doesn't bode well for the Russian people or the world.
Obviously he needs to be taken down somehow, but how? I wonder how his health is!:icon_chee

Dude are you high? Where did you get these numbers from? Are you sure your not confusing the exchange rates? The average monthly income in India is less than $100.....

He means median wealth, not monthly income.

As far as median wealth, the average Russian is poorer than an Indian. These numbers fluctuate, but see video @46:00
http://video.pbs.org/video/2365401766/

The average Russian has $870 US to his/her name, while Putin has maybe 40B.

Putin is a dangerous man and is willing to deliver a nuclear blow to us on our soil. We're in a position of weakness right now. Not much we could do.

We could (s)elect an awesome and badass prez like The Gipper, who was asked if he would use nukes first if need be, and he straight up said yes.

Pinocchiobama said under no circumstances would he even consider doing so.

Alas, there are no Reagans out there...

lol at anybody thinking putin would ever launch nukes unprovoked.

good lord people, stop watching seth rogen movies.

That guy is a fraud. He was basically one of those oligarchs in lawless Russia until Putin decided to clean things up.

Now he's wanted for tax evasion n other criminal activities

Everyone knows that all Putin critics are found to be criminals, the meaningful question is that of the chicken and the egg.

It's not clear to me how a prez willing to launch a first nuclear strike would make us safer.
