A good framing hammer is essential if you're doing any framing or plan on driving a lot of nails.

A standard hammer is fine for everyday stuff tho.

When I got my new sharp black hammer, I was stoked. I kept poking my girlfriend in the ass with it.

Oh, and go DeWalt for your drills/screwguns.

And generally:

Hammer
Screwdriver(s)
Prybar
Circular saw
Cordless drill
Square
Tape measure
Socket set
Extension cord(s)

Everything else you can buy as you need.

Go to Home Depot when a project comes up and buy as you go. No need to buy everything now.
