At my work people often ask me the time, because I have to get ppl signed in for certain things. I always reply with the exact time.

If its 2:21pm I say 2:21pm.

I always get these comments.

"Pretty precise huh"
"How many seconds?"
"Can I just put 2:20?"
Etc.

Why? Its 2:21 so why not just put 2:21. Its not easier to write 2:20, so why do you feel the need to round down?

People act like Im weird for giving the exact time, no, youre weird for rounding up/down for no reason ya jerkass. When you ask me the time I give you the time.

Why am I going to say 2:20 if its 2:18?
Whats the point?

Thats all.

Is you're time synchronized with the world clock?

Wow this really blew my hair back

Damn bro, sounds like a complex job you've got.

it's Miller time!

When I have to sign in somewhere I round down or up to the nearest HOUR

No.

I will round the time up or down as I please.

I declare it is now 5pm and everyone can go home from work.

...and that is why you are the ruler of time, 'The Time God', at your place of work.

* On a side note. You have some pretty stupid people working with you. You have to wonder how they managed to live for as long as they have. I sure hope they don't have any offspring. Hard to believe these idiots can't buy and wear a watch. God forbid they should join the military and you tell them it is 17:00.

I've always used a 24-hour clock on my electronics. It just makes sense.

they are pissed becasue they are running late, and it will sound better if you round down. if they ask yuo to round down, round up instead.

I just write the time in 24hr format. Why would you round up or down? That's not the time

This is actually one of my biggest pet peeves in a slightly different way. For example my father will always give the time to the nearest quarter hour instead of saying the actual time and that drives me crazy. If I ask for the time just say the actual time not rounding it to the nearest quarter hour. I know it's habit because of old watches but he still does it with digital ones with exact times.

I am totally with you, I am time obsessed. I also use military time at 1300

These little life vignettes that people have make my life more interesting for sure. I like yours. It strikes me as something to laugh off rather than take seriously. I think the people who make these comments are not being super-serious about the matter, so maybe try to respond casually in turn:

Them: Pretty precise, huh?
You: ...and 35 seconds, to be exact.

Them: And how many seconds?
You: It depends on when you want me to stop the clock. When you walked in? When our conversation begun? I need to know these things.

Them: Can I just put 2:20?
You: Sure, go ahead. But if you put 2:21 it looks better, like I'm doing my job perfectly.

I don't know what the best responses would be....that's for you to determine. I'm just giving you some examples. Sorry if they're not very good. My point is to try and not be serious about it.
