Really, it's not that crazy of an idea. Standing, it's only a matter of time for any girl until clinch>throw>Ronda on top doing what she does best.

Put her in the guard, perhaps her guard passing skills are low, and maybe she'll even leave her own arm out there or neck.

Problem is she's also beastly strong compared to the other women she's fought (although perhaps it just appears that way due to the confidence in the clinch), and I can imagine her throwing down some nasty elbows.

Just trying to think of possibilities

Circle away from her straight as an arrow takedowns.

    Jab, jab, jab.

One day someone will beat her and everyone will say "Oh that's all it took?" or she'll be "exposed".

For now someone needs to try something other than clinching, or gong and dash.

Set her up for an armbar, uhh, no... instead fight like CroCop, keep it standing with spectacular TDD.

What you just said, was one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.

Jack Slack made this same point the other day. His take was that once Ronda clinches up with you, you are going to be taken down, and Ronda's takedown's are often right into side control or other advantageous positions. Therefore, he suggested pulling guard once stuck in the clinch with Ronda as a form of damage control.

I am not sure I buy it, but I think it is neither insane nor idiotic.

Problem is that with her clinch skills she will likely just disengage if she, by any chance, feels actually threatened.

Pull the arm bar machine on top of you?! Fuck no! Nobody has the guard to deal with Ronda on top.

The blueprint to beat Ronda isn't rocket science, it's just there aren't any female fighters at 135 who are complete fighters. That is how shitty that division is, everyone knows whats coming from the champ and even the top 5 can't do anything about it.

Armbars from within guard are hard to manage. In fact subs from within guard are hard, especially without a gi.

But this strategy is still bad.

Joanna would also get thrown. Ronda's game is a nightmare match up for strikers, especially wild or aggressive ones. You can TDD and stay away from the clinch all you want, but sooner or later they will exchange flurries and then it's throw or sweep time.

IDK, how do you win the fight if you do that? I don't follow WMMA closely at all, so is there anyone in the division that can attack from their back at a high level, enough to submit the best ever female fighter?

It makes sense if there's someone super slick on the ground because it's better than side control. But if you're not you are going to get dominated just as fast.

Yep agree. A female chuck Liddell type fighter would beat Ronda . The woman to beat her is probably some 15 year old training right now.
