The stream to PC seems pointless at that resolution but the driver is a nice touch.

Play installer on your computer. For Windows-based PCs, the streaming feature works on Windows 8.1 and 10 systems. For Mac users, you’ll need to have OS X Yosemite (10.10) or El Capitan (10.11).

At launch, you’ll have a maximum resolution of 720p, but the stream will default to a resolution of 540p. In addition, you’ll get to play at 60 frames per second (the default setting is 30 frames per second).

Obviously, you’ll also get to use the DualShock 4 controller, which will need to be plugged in to your PC or Mac device via a USB cable. This means that Sony will finally have an official driver for the controller. In the past, users had to rely on third-party drivers (such as DS4Windows) to use the DualShock 4 on the PC.

And it'll do 720p but will default to 540p

X1 has had this feature since Windows 10 Launched. It's built into the Windows start menu. I've tried it a couple of times and it works really well, but I don't really find much use for it.

Seeing as people using this feature will more than likely be streaming it into a laptop. You're not going to notice the difference between 720 and 1080 on that small of a screen.

I fail to see a use for it either. 540p is ridiculous though.

Tried it out earlier, put the settings at 720p and 60fps, worked pretty well. I keep my ps4 in my room, but its useful for when I go to another room and want to keep playing, even though I have a Vita that's been able to do it since pretty much launch and I also downloaded the android app, its still a nice feature, rather play it on a bigger laptop screen with a controller than on the smaller Vita or phone screen.

I can see if you have kids and they want to play games, but you want to watch TV, but that's about it.

This is pretty much my main draw for remote play, kids want to watch cartoons and I want to get some games in. Works great on the Vita, but the limited buttons makes some games to hard to play with the lack of real L2/L3/R2/R3. Simulated touch control buttons are fine for some games, but anything where precise timing is needed it's just not reliable enough.

Tried this out today and it works great. Using remote play on our computer with a fully functioning DS4 is 100x bethere than the Vita.

Tried a couple UFC fights on it earlier. Service gets a 5/10 for me. I only tried it to see how epic the 720p looked on my 4k monitor lol ( like shit). I had a few lag spikes that interrupted game play, and a few connection issues, even though my PS4 is only 10 feet away.

I don't really see the point of the official drivers. There's no way it's going to have feature parity with inputmapper or ds4windows.

When would you even want to do this? Like if your wife is on the TV and you want to play PS4 without plugging it into your monitor ?

Am I misunderstanding what this is?
