protech impression kit still hasn't come.....

hey guys. i know tom at protech is very busy with orders right now, but it's been about two weeks since i have ordered my mouthguard and the impression/order kit still hasn't shown up. it seems like most of the people got theirs in about a week or so maybe a little longer. i understand the actuall guard takes about 3-4 weeks from the time you send out your impression, but i would think the kit would be here by now. should i call tom today or wait it out a couple more days and if nothing shows by wednesday or thursday then give him a call? what do you think? thanks
 
I think I waited 2-3 weeks for mine, give it a few more days and if nothing then call or email him. He has been awesome at getting back quickly though email.
 
Well, I don't know what is going on with protech lately, but I've been waiting over 2 months for my guard, and it's still not here. I've called a couple times, and kept in contact via email, but now I haven't even gotten responses to the last 2 emails I've sent.

The messed up thing is that supposedly, my guard was sent out the week of July 4th...yet I never got one, and when I contacted Tom about it because I was about to move to a new address, he said he'd send it there (implying it was never sent in the first place). I'm very irritated that I've paid $95 for something I'm not so sure I'm even going to get anymore.

Back on your topic, it took about 2 weeks to get my impression kit too.
 
Just to update, I just tried to call after I posted.

I called three times - each time, my call was ended after the first ring.

What the hell is going on over there???

I'm not sure what is going on, but I'm having a hard time with Protech right now also. I've been waiting over 2 months now myself, and I haven't been able to get anyone to answer the phone for the last three weeks. I don't mind waiting if they're behind, but a company can't just leave people hanging like this with no answer. From what I had previously read, Protech always had good customer service, but something is obviously going wrong right now.
 
I've been waiting about 6 six weeks for mine and my last 2 emails have gone unanswered. I know that Tom had some major health issues a few weeks ago, so I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. If it's not here in the next few weeks though, I'll consider canceling my order and getting a Gladiator. They may not be as good as Protech, but a Gladiator still beats the hell out my Shock Doctor.
 
i didn't know tom had some health problems. maybe that's having an effect on the certain concerns. i hope when i call i don't have the same phone problems as you guys. i called once and talked to tom and he seemed really nice and like a cool guy so i can't figure out why people are having problems as of late.... anyway, i hope i get my impression kit soon.
 
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt too, for right now. But I can only do that for so long while not getting responses on his end. He was very good about updating me on what was going on at first, and I was aware of the health problems, so I've been patient.

But as I said, I haven't gotten responses to the last 2 emails, I can't get through on the phone, and my guard was supposedly sent out, but I never got it, any sort of notification from UPS, or even a tracking # to find out what was going on.

As AMAS said, the company is just leaving people hanging right now. If it's going to take a while due to the issues Tom has been dealing with, I am understanding, but some sort of communication to let me know what is going on is something I expect from any business.

The thing that gets me the most is that my check was long since cashed, yet I've got nothing to show for it, and now I can't even get in touch with the people who've gotten my money.
 
update from Tom. Hey guys I talked to Tom over myspace last week and he actually got bit by a black widow and was in the hospital for awhile :eek: He is back on his feet but is trying to get caught up, he said he has some really big real brewing and it's hard to keep up before he lost some time recovering. He is working as fast as possible to get things put back together. I'm in the same boat as the rest of you guys but I think it's going to be worth the wait.
 
I'm giving Tom leeway on my order right now because he cut me a decent deal and I'm aware of his health problems lately as a result of a spider bite.

However like many of you I have sent him the funds and details of my order and have been told three times he would start work on my mouthguard that week. Now two and a half months later, after being told last week he'd complete the work on it and email me before the end of the week to confirm it's completion and shipping details, I am still waiting on that email.

Tom said something previously about having to limit the amount of new orders because of a backlog of old orders. My Shock Doctor is not providing the protection it used to and I have no idea as to when I'll actually get my MG that I've sent the postal order. Considering I've been told three times that he will start work on it, while I am sympathetic to a company being overburdened with orders and the owner suffering health problems, I feel like I have been misled.

Hopefully I will receive my guard at some point in the future. When exactly that will be, I have no idea and I'm reticent to ask when given my previous enquiries have resulted in the same answer which has obviously been untrue. Hopefully it will be soon because I really don't want to have to buy another Shock Doctor in the mean time.
 
Thanks for the update Adino. Hopefully everything will come together soon. I'm tired of waiting.
 
man, that sucks he got bit by a black widow. hopefully he'll get some guards out and get back on his feet. best wishes to him with his recovery.
 
Man first Chris Brennan now Tom. What is it with spider bites.

Tom's been pretty good. He's always uber busy everytime I talk to him. I'm waiting for my one too. We're up to my third. Number 1'skidna lost. 2 got lost in the mail and so is 3 so it seems.
 
i was just messing around and looking at protech's web site and it looks like it was redone. on their new one you can actually order right away without sending an email and you pay right away as well. i'm wondering if i shouldn't just replace my order this way.
 
When I call the Protech phone number now, it just rings and then cuts me off. It seems like the voicemail has been cut off to the phone. Is everyone else getting the same thing? When is the last time anyone has actually talked to Tom on the phone?
 
yeah man, i was just trying to call them like 10 min ago but the same thing happened to me. even if he's not in the office you'd think there would be someone else there to answer the calls and what not.
 
Don't bother replacing your order that way AMAS. If you sent a email and it was acknowledged, then that should be more than enough.

Isn't Tom's office his house as well?

Keep me updated on your order, and I'll do the same. It sounds like you and I are in the same boat as far as being told it was done or it was on the way, but not receiving anything. I've been waiting a little over 2 months myself.
 
I just waiting on that email, man. I'm feeling a little MMAGear'd at this point. What makes me wonder the most is that apparently others have had their orders done and dusted while I've been waiting.

I was torn at first between Gladiator and Protech but though I'd give Tom a chance since his notable history of producing quality guards as part of BiteMe and he offered me a decent deal on a custom design. It seems like every other time I've contacted him he's said he's "about to start work on it this week".

I do feel for the dude for getting bit but he said he'd start work on it a month before his unfortunate run in with a spider. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem on waiting on something if I am given an actual date or timetable as to when I can expect it, I just don't like being told one thing one week and the same thing three weeks later. It gives the impression my order is not as important even though my money has been accepted to provide the goods I asked for.

It seems someone on MMA.tv had a similar complain about Protech a few weeks ago so I am kind of confused by the whole situation. It seems that there are many satisfied customers while you and I are waiting and emailing and either getting delayed responses with false promises or having little luck contacting Tom at all.

I'm going to wait until the end of the week to see if I do receive anything in my inbox but unsurprisingly I'm not holding my breath.
 
Superbeast and Amas iI am in the same boat as you guys i was told it was going to be sent out on the 14th of June and nothing. Then i got and e-mail last week saying it would be sent out in 2 days and still nothing. I am going to give him the benifit of the doubt though. I just hope it comes soon.
