I was at the store looking for a new benzomatic propane tank which ran out.

However they were out so I picked up map pro instead.

The guy at the store said they do the same thing.

Now it says that i can't use the same torch head for the map pro tank that I used for the propane. But in a safe spot I removed the torch head and put in on the map pro...turned it on and it works just fine.

Am I good continuing to use the torch head with the map pro or should I get another torch head...or just wait until the store gets more propane in?

Yeah I use the same torch on propane and mapp gas at work as a plumber. I don't know what he's talking about. Mapp gas burns something like 100 degrees hotter than propane. Makes it a little bit easier when im soldering copper lines

Map-pro is propylene and propane. Burns at a slightly higher temperature. If the torch head came with the first tank and you're just using it to do drugs I wouldn't worry about it. They most likely tell you to use a different head for liability reasons due to the temp difference

I am actually. Thanks

It says it on the container too. I thought maybe they just say that to get you to buy a "specialized map pro torch"

If you go to a NAPA autoparts store you'll see MAPP and Propane sold together along with some quality igniters / torch heads.

I don't know the model # but I have a Bernzomatic torch head that I swap out between the two and have not had a problem.

Yeah I double checked the head and it's a worthington (benzomatic) torch head. It claims propane use only, but like I said I tried it on the map and it seems to work just the same.

I can't imagine that it wouldn't work the same. The temp difference between the two isn't huge and the hottest part of either flame isn't closest to the torch head. I'm guessing that the company is trying to cover their asses in case somebody tries something really stupid.

Only thing I can find is that it can possibly melt the torch from the higher temperature.

Is Hank Hill a sherdogger?

@Hank Hill help a brother out.

That guy knows everything about propane and propane accessories.

Yup. End of thread.

A nector collector with a titanium tip for dabbing. I only have it on for like 10 seconds at the most.

I looked up dabbing because I was not familiar:

The act of inhaling vaporized cannabis concentrates through a temperature-specific heating method such as a dab rig, e-rig, or vaporizer.

IDK how temperature specific your process is, but beware the MAP will burn hotter with the same torch setup.

Is there any time you wouldn't recommend it?

I’ve had nothing but MAPP gas on the same little hand torch for the past 15+ years. Works great for anything you’d use a propane torch for that doesn’t require the extra heat of oxy/acetylene.
