It's a shame Fedor withdrew from the ADCC this year. It would have finally shut up the grappling forum that Sambo is a much better art for the ground than BJJ.
I wouldn't at all have been surprised to see him sweep his weight division and win the open weight, most by sub. If someone like Jeff Monson, who almost got triangled by Tim Sylvia, could win the HW ADCC, there's no reason anyone would even score a point on Fedor.
Here are some examples --
Mousasi/Jacare -- Jacare could do nothing with Mousasi on the ground. Out of frustration, he started throwing bombs instead of trying to pass guard. He was rightfully KTFO with an upkick. Someone should have told him he wasn't in the ADCC anymore. ADCC BJJ =/= MMA BJJ.

Tripp/Rickson-- Demonstrated how much more well rounded Sambo is. BJJ not paying enough attention to TD defence was his downfall.
Rickson couldn't get it to the ground and was quickly KTFO after he was thrown. Amazingly, he had the audacity to say he was thrown because he misunderstood the rules. Ron Tripp said the only thing Rickson misunderstood was that he was going to get a world class Judoka to the ground.

Fedor/Nogueira I and III-- Possibly the first time a Sambo practicioner destroyed a BJJ practictioner in MMA at a high level. Now you see it all the time (Amir vs Dollaway, Fedor vs. everyone, Mousasi/Souza)

I met Ron Tripp last night at an Oklahoma event. I asked him about it. He said that he threw him twice and on the second throw he slammed him on his head and knocked him out.
I asked him about the missunderstanding of the rules and he said that the only missunderstanding was that Rickson thought he was going to be able to get a world class Judo practicioner to the ground.
