Which fighters were promised title shots that were given to someone else or postponed

Off the top of my head.
Rory Macdonald. (Johnny Hedricks got it)
Lyoto Machida. (think Vitor stole that one at the time.)
Alexander Gustafsson (injury, DC took it)
Dan Henderson(injury, Chael snuck in)
Rashad (injury, Jones took it from him)
Dominic cruz (injured, talks of barao or faber getting next shot at T.J)
Not sure if Cub Swanson was ment to get one when Chad mendes had his second attempt.

Wait, a lot of these were given, but the fighter got injured and pulled out. That's not the same as not giving them a title shot. They got the shot, then relinquished it.

Kampann/Ellenberger was called a no. 1 contender's fight (apparently because they expected Jake to win). When Martin won, he had to fight Hendricks next and lost.

Hendricks was then supposed to get one by beating Kampann, but they went with Diaz instead and Hendricks had to fight Condit first to get the shot.

Pettis was supposed to fight the LW champ in his first UFC fight, but Edgar/Maynard fought to a draw so they rematched. Pettis lost to Guida in the interim and had to fight his way back to a title shot.

Diaz was supposed to fight GSP in his first fight back from SF, but he skipped two press events and lost the shot (which eventually disappeared all together when GSP got hurt).

Condit was then supposed to fight GSP, but GSP got hurt. Then they bumped Diaz back to the front. GSP getting hurt worse resulted in Diaz/Condit for an interim title. That whole situation was a mess.

I'm pretty sure the winner of Bisping/Hendo was supposed to get one. Then Marquardt ko'd Maia, and he became the front runner. Then Vitor ko'd Rich, and he got it.

Even knowing how that transpired that was confusing as fuck to read.

if your point is to list everyone that lost out due to injury, you're gonna be here for a while. Not sure if there is even enough space on the internet for it.

UFC 125 was going to be headlined by Maynard/Edgar II and co-mained by Jose Aldo vs. Josh Grispi for the featherweight title

Aldo got injured and Grispis career took a terrible nosedive

I was thinkn the same thing.

Mostly right. Condit got paid off to let Diaz leapfrog him.

That whole situation made me mad, mostly because Condit had decisively earned a shot and was the most exciting fighter, and this clown Diaz got every opportunity to jump the line because he beat up some scrubs in the minors.

Jds vs roy nelson was n1 contender fight, but jds had to fight carwin before getting hiss shot
Assuncao got hurt and tj got his shot at barao
Josh grispi was n1 contender at fw,but fought poirier and lost
Not sure if jacare/romero was promised title shot but dana said anderson will get it
Cub vs stephens was n1 contender fight iirc

Rashad Evans was supposed to fight Shogun for the belt, but when he blew out his knee just a few weeks prior to the fight, they gave Jon Jones the shot immediately following his win over Bader.
