Based on the two Anderson Silva LHW fights, do you think he'd beat Jones?

Only clear advantage I'd see Silva having is his precise striking is still far better than Jone's stand-up will ever be.

It would be extremely close. I think theres only like a 2" difference in reach?

I'd imagine that Jones superior physical strength would be telling, I could see him holding Andy against the cage, scoring a few TDs, generally manhandling Silva. On the other hand in close quarters Andy has his deadly clinch and submission game. Silva would kick the shit out of Jones thighs, slowing him down.

It would be a striking masterclass. Damn, its impossible for me to make a pick.

A few fights ago, I'd have quickly said Anderson.

As of right this instant, I'd strongly favor Jones.

Idk because Jones likes to play his opponent's game. Not unthinkable that he could be out struck.

Jones, not even close. He's absolutely gigantic compared to Silva and the strength difference would be incredible.

We all know what Chael did to Silva. Bones would murder him with his wrestling.

Would love to see a prime silva fight jones in a striking only match but in a real match jones would just go for the instant takedown and win with gnp/elbows.

Anyone who votes Anderson is purely delusional.

Jones takes Anderson down and mauls him.

Anyone that picks Anderson, just does it because they don't like Jones.

Jones, not because he is the more skilled fighter (I believe that is debatable) but simply because Jones is too big.

Jones to me looks massive, even if he were in the heavyweight division he'd be a big heavyweight.

If they both had the same reach and height, I'd probably lean towards Silva.

Jones is definitely a skilled fighter but lets not pretend he's not at a MASSIVE MASSIVE advantage physically.

    Jones.

There's a reason Andy is campaigning for GSP instead of fighting Jones.

Jon. Prime Anderson is still an averaged sized MW. He moved up from WW.

Add the fact that Jon's wrestling threat is Anderson's weakness combined with his length & the Spider would be facing an uphill battle.

Re: The outcome. Anderson could easily take the fight to a decision [Which he would lose] but the guy is a fighter always looking for the finish.

I think he may get stopped late looking to finish Jon. Maybe Bones via sub in the 4th or 5th.

Oh, for christ's sake, now it's not just "Prime Silva," it's "Prime LHW Silva." Silva was never an elite light heavyweight. Ever. He never had a chance to be one. He beat three guys who were tailor made for his style of counterstriking. The only one who had any kind of knockout power was James Irvin, and I don't think anyone would argue that he was an elite light heavyweight. Jones would completely and totally destroy any iteration of Anderson Silva that has ever or will ever walk on this earth. I root for Jones' opponent in nearly every fight he has and frequently convince myself before the fights that the company line I'm being sold by Joe Rogan and Dana White that "this guy is the biggest test Jon Jones has ever faced! Ever!" is true just so you know I'm not saying this because I'm a Jones fan: He would beat the ever-loving shit out of Silva. Silva would get ragdolled in the clinch, taken down and wrestlefucked/elbowed into oblivion/choked unconscious, picked apart from halfway across the cage, etc. It would look like a dad fighting his pre-teen son. Please stop with these threads.

I'd pick Jones, because he could absolutely smother him with wrestling most likely.

On the other hand, if Jones really did try and beat him at his own game, as he says he likes to do with his opponents, he could cause himself some serious trouble. His striking is odd, and when he whips out standing elbows and spinning stuff he's effective at all sorts of strange angles, but I thought Anderson looked especially crisp and on point in his striking at 205. Of course some of that came from his opponents - I like Forrest, but he's hardly the king of kickboxers - but Anderson at 205 hit with speed, precision, and power.

Still, I'd pick Jones, because his size and gnp would be decisive.

Jones wins IMO - his reach, strength and wrestling would be the difference

Striking wise jones wouldn't get close to him, but if jones could take him down it could be a different story

Jones would win quite comfortable imo.
