I think Lewis never got the recognition he deserved because he was a brit ponce, but my God the man was huge and virtually indestructible. McCall clipped him once but he obliterated him in the rematch.

Ali was a pretty fighter, a flashy fighter, fan favorite and a great but how does he fare against such a big, efficient wrecking machine?

I agree, Lewis is the most underrated boxer of all time.

Tyson paid him 4 million (in the 90's) so he wouldnt have to defend his title against him.

McCall i believe threw his title in the trash so he wouldnt face him.

Klitchko turned down the fight plenty of times, accepts it when Lewis had a notoriously laxed camp and was out of shape, to still get stopped in the 5th.

I used to follow boxing closely, especially in the 90s.

    - I don't remember the step aside money Lewis got from Tyson.
    - Bowe threw the WBC title in the trash, rather than fight Lewis.
    - Kirk Johnson was supposed to fight Lewis, but got hurt in training. Vitali stepped in for him. No one knew how lax his camp was until he stepped on the scales.

    https://m.lasvegassun.com/news/1996/sep/25/tyson-criticized-for-vacating-crown/

" The court order against Tyson was the result of Lewis winning a suit in which he claimed Tyson -- by edict of the WBC -- had to make his first defense against the WBC's No. 1 contender, which happens to be Lewis.

When Tyson fought Bruce Seldon Sept. 7, Lewis was paid $4 million in "step-aside money" and the WBC title at that time could have been considered vacated, although Tyson and King warned that they might contest that decision in court.

But based on the press releases Tuesday from Duva's New Jersey office, Tyson has now relinquished his claim to the WBC title and a purse bid for the Lewis vs. McCall bout is imminent. "

    - Tyson paid him 4 million and the relinquished the WBC title.

I doubt you actually followed boxing if you missed that.

And do you truly believe that Klitchko's had no idea the condition Lewis was in??Vitali was suppose to fight a prime version of Lennox 3 separate times, but each time used the 'I'm not ready yet' excuse. But some how is ready on short notice??

Lewis is my favourite boxer. Ali was lighter and would use a lot of footwork, but I'd still pick Lewis.
I honestly believe if he was about now he would dismantle Deontay Wilder and most likely get a win over Joshua with experience.

Yes. I really did follow the sport back in the 90s. I didn't recall the step aside money.

As for Lewis vs. Vital. Again, I don't see how Kliycjko, would habe known what kind of shape Lennox was in. They were both scheled to fight on the same card (vs. Johnson and vs. Boswell) and Vitali got the call once Kirk got hurt.

Well it was just speculation on my part in all honesty, im not gonna pretend like its a fact, but for the record there is plenty of locker room talk that goes on, other camps hearing rumors on the grapevine is a common occurence and even today in MMA there are plenty of accussations of spies in camps.

If a fighter is out shape and didnt tske the csmp seriously it would be less likely that Klitchko's camp didn't know about it before accepting the bout.
