Every possible rankings from 2001-2007 had 9/10 top 10 fighters from Pride. Maybe 8/10 in LHW.

Can't speak about MW / Pride's WW and lower divisions.

You can't match fighters from UFC and other organizations now, but i don't think anyone doesn't think that at least 8 top 10 fighters from each division are in UFC.

UFC took over in 2007 and Pride definitely had much better fighters in HW and LHW. Facts.

Big Nog beat Sylvia and won the interim title after having a long career and being well passed his prime. Fedor beat all 3 of the champions I listed and each matchup both fighters were in the same state in their careers; aka diminished.

And when CC came to the UFC he was supposed to take the belt. An unknown Brazilian nearly knocked his head off.. Need to match them up.

Fedor could have fought Brock in 2009.. Likely would have lost IMO. Thank god for Fedor fans that did not happen LOL.. Suicide watch..

Pride had a lot of great fighters, but it also had a ton of overrated fighters. Cro-Cop and Fedor were two of them. I know that's blasphemy for the Pride stans, but it's also true.

Cro-Cop lost to Brendan Schaub. He lost three straight in the UFC to Mir, Schaub, and Roy Nelson. Mirko Cro-Cop was around 35 years old at the time, so it's not like he was super old or far gone past his prime either (and probably on PEDs let's be real).

Cro-Cop was around 32-33 years old during his first UFC run where he beat a complete bum (Eddie Sanchez) and then lost to Gonzaga and Kongo back to back.

Pride was awesome. But Pride fans need to get a grasp on reality, please accept reality. Fedor and Cro-Cop were awesome in Pride, but they fought a ton of cans and were overrated. Anyone with a shred of objectivity and intelligence can see that.

Not for nothing, Crocop was like 70 fights deep between mma and kickboxing when he came to the UFC. Also, Gonzaga was primarily a grappler, who knew he could throw a nasty headkick before that fight?

With 27 mma fights, 26 K1 level fights and who knows how many other boxing/kickboxing matches and operations, not used to fighting in the cage and maybe off roids.
 
I'm pretty sure Cro Cop was also on steroids back in his pride days.

The current LHW contenders are lacklustre, that's for sure. None of them, save DC, are great at anything in particular.

This is where things like fighter pay become relevant. If the UFC paid more they would attract better talent. They don't, therefore you have Anthony Smith in a title fight.

You did not watch back then confirmed. Sherdog was flooded with people riding the CC nut sack back then. When Gonzaga KO'd him they had their boners soften...
 
Whiny thread number 2 by Mixfight after most recent UFC PPV, like he does every time there is a PPV because he's insecure about Fedor not being GOAT.
 
At least with Dominick Reyes, there is no way to tell (yet) if prime Crop Cop was a better fighter.
Cro Cop might have been better, but we can only assume that because fighters that are as good as Cro Cop are generally really rare and because Reyes is only seven fights deep into his career in the big leagues.
Reyes could possibly win his next 10 fights, who knows.
