Prime Cro-cop was an amazing striker an that was it. His TDD would not stop Jones at all.
Coming off his biggest winning moment of the open weight grand prix to going 1-2 and being cut the first time from the UFC.
Then comes back and goes 2 and 4 and gets cut again, albeit that was past his prime.

No, not even in the same ball park. I give him all the credit as one of my first favorites. But well rounded, he was not. He had solid takedown defense and great striking. But Jones would mangle him.

How well rounded was Dominick Reyes or Gustafson? Seems like a striking match to me. So you think Jon is a better stand up fighter than cro cop obviously, which is purely ludicrous

I literally said at 205. What does him having to be a true heavyweight have to do with him whooping heavyweights? Do you honestly believe any of the legendary 205ers can beat someone like Josh Barnett who mangled Randy?

2006? That is what TS is referencing. The HWs of that time would still do very well today. Keep in mind I said HW's, not lower diviisons.

Ya no. 205 is not significantly better nor is heavyweight at all, that’s a garbage take. There is no legitimate argument for that, when glover can be champion not too long ago, and heavyweight is not what you think it is, if you think that ciryl gane is beating someone like werdum or Cain in their primes. Absolutely not.

Exactly. Outside of aspinall, that division isn’t significantly better. I would say light heavyweight is historically weak post the legends era but people like rumble, dc, jiri, and Alex are a problem that would make those legends struggle. Jones fought one of those guys. I do think it would be tough to beat prime Randy, or wanderlei in pride universally, but I can see those same guys I mentioned being a problem that could end badly for them. Plus prime rampage and machida are ex factors, if for nothing else than the simple fact that they are hard to get a ko on and have fairly decent grappling strength.
 
I like Cro Cop albeit if he is a little overrated by some, I don't think he'd beat Jon at HW, never mind LHW. He'd certainly give him a fight but Jon would find a choke sooner or later.
 
That wouldn't happen Jones is the best to ever step in at 205. I hate him but that's the facts

No doubt.

Guys like Barnett, Cro Cop, Kharitonov, Nogueira, Fedor, Mir, Arlovski, Sylvia, Randy, Aleks from 2004 to 2007 era would do very well. And then the 2009 to 2011 era of Cain, JDS, Lesnar, Overeem would do great too.

People forget werdum was a main training partner of cro cop, and how crazy his takedown defense got there in the end of pride. If all of the above are a check, it becomes a striking battle. Put it this way, in a pure striking match old k-1 rules, do you think Jon was better than prime cro cop? If not, he would be probably the first person you could say definitively was better than jon in that arena.

That's a good point. I definitely don't see Jones beating Cro Cop in K1 rules, but confident he could do what Nelson did to Cro Cop. Cro cops TDD is legendary for sure but also Jones could follow Fedors strategy and keep pressure on the feet against him. Mix in some clinch battles and it'll get interesting.

Fedor wasn't really using his power, it was putting Cro Cop on his back foot where he couldn't pressure and land his kicks. Hell Jones probably extends his fingers for pressure lol
 
the longer the fight goes on the less likely CroCop wins - Peter Aerts.
