Prime Chuck Liddell vs Prime Bas Rutten

If it was mostly standup I'd pick Bas. If Chuck tried to wrestle & ground and pound most of the fight I think that would be his best way to win.
 
Now that would be a fight for the ages. I'm leaning towards Bas. Utilizes those leg kicks way more effective than Chuck.

Who knows who would win this one?
 
What a tough one to call. Even within certain categories you cant pick a definitive winner. For example, when comparing their hands Id say Chuck was better at landing that 1 punch KO but Bas threw straighter bunches and more combos and obviously dug to the body like nobody else.
Hands- Chuck
Kicks- Bas
Wrestling- Chuck
Subs- Bas
Size- Probably Chuck (if they fought Id expect Chuck to be bigger)
Strength- Bas
Cardio- Even
Fight IQ- Even
Finishing ability- Even

Can anyone think of one metric that gives either guy an edge?
 
I don't really know. Basically had excellent standup and seemingly a better understanding of angles than Chuck. Would love to have seen this fight.
 
This would have been such a fantastic match to witness, Bas Rutten by submission....he was very good in Pancrase.
 
Bas was legit. He was one of those guys that made you feel bad for the guys he was fighting. I would give Bas an edge, but with either guy, it only takes one punch.
