I always found jones ped cheat run just trash.
Like 50 percent gifted decisions, a lot of ducking, ducking of hw(when juice then juice get big go to hw all im saying), a lot of past theyre prime fighters.
The run of juiced overeem was better in every way.
First, he went from mw to hw second he wrecked everyone.
k1 champ, strikeforce champ, dream champ.
So i have Übereem over tiranabol jones.
All these jon jones cult worshipers should watch übreem s run.

He is one of the few guys who was actually too big for 205.
He had a bad string of losses before moving up, lost to Shogun, Lil Nog and Arona, and had some pretty nasty KOs for his trouble so it made sense that the weight cut wasn't working out for him.

In that same time he beat Vitor at catchweight and Buentello at HW so the universe painted him a pretty clear sign that he belong at HW.

I wish he would have finished out the Strikeforce HW tournament. I imagine others will disagree because reems exit became DCs coming out party, but Overeem was the reigning SF champ and since he left to go the the UFC, he left with the title and it wasn't transferred via win in the cage.

The UFC acquired a ton of great talent in that merger but I think they missed out on some potential fun unification bouts. If I recall correctly Melendez was the only SF champ that got a shot at the UFC belt straight away... right?

Overeems so-called "Championships" are sus as hell. They were both paper titles against laughable competition (Bustamante and Duffee), not to mention that he was coming off of an embarrassing loss for one of them. He was outstruck by werdum, twice.

I've always thought that "Ubereem" wasn't as good as LHW overeem or econo-reem.

Won K1 Grand Prix, KO'd Hari. Then beat Rogers, Duffee, Werdum, and Lesnar in MMA is a pretty good run. There were lots of fighters ducking him behind the scenes at the time so he could only beat who signed up, but he was unstoppable those couple years 2008-2011.

Overeem was 228lbs to 232lbs for most of his LHW fights. He was one of the largest weight cutters. Only Cormier cut more. Griffin was huge and Anthony Johnson but they topped out at 232ish same with Rampage.

Overeem basically did not know how to cut weight well at the time and also did not respond to it well even when he did. Also it is a fact the more you cut the worse your cardio and more dehyrdated the brain is.

Overeems first bulk to 245lbs was not so shocking considering his out of camp weight was mid 230s. Then he bulked to 255lbs becoming more jacked and lean. Then his final bulk was from 255lbs to 270lbs where he would then drop a little and range from 263lbs to 270 during his final Ubereem phase. Peak Ubereem was the K1 Grand Prix run and 2009 and 2010 year

I remember him always winning against everyone. He outstruck, out-thought and outfought everyone. Until he got gassed or got hit back. He's basically the prototype bully fighter. Matches his persona in the gym too. Theres loads of stories of him going hard in training and bullying others.

This reads more like a discredit Jon rant than a credit Overeem rant.

IMO Anthony Johnson’s LHW run is far more impressive than Reems HW which was loaded with some cans and controversy (KTFO’ed by Sergei, Crocop low blow fight, arguably lost to Werdum in SF, blatant cheating). Reem had a nice run and I’m a big fan but this sounds more like a Jones hate thread. Rumbles prime LHW streak > Overeems HW streak.

I think he would of won the tournament and would of faced and KOd Cormier at some point. I wish that happened because Cormier I cannot stand. Ubereem also could of been champ, if he didnt fail the test after the Lesnar fight he would of fought JDS and likely won that fight then defend vs Cain in late 2012 and he matched well up with Cain. Overeem had such a shocking career. In theory he could of reigned at HW for a while if he just had a decent let alone solid chin. The Stipe fight he should of won if only he kept punching or tightened the guillotine better. The Big Foot fight he was winning. The mans career was a rollercoaster

He was also crushing Cro Cop until the cup smashing low blow turned it into a n/c. He also beat Mark Hunt and cleanly knocked out Fujita in the same run. He was an absolute machine.

I feel like I've seen the word cult too much on sherdog recently. First we had the cult of Fedor, now the cult of Jones. Where is this coming from lol

It has been a wild ride, but that is what makes it fun and exciting.

Overeem is a member of my favorite subset of fighters, those who are simultaneously extremely dangerous but also potentially beatable. That allows for the "anything can happen" factor thay makes MMA exciting for me.

I think Overeem could have beaten just about anyone ever if fortune was on his side that particular day.
He could win...or lose...in spectacular fashion.

He looked like a goddamn monster against Brock. He was big, aggressive and confident.

His run was good but no where near the best. His best wins out of that streak was Werdum, Brock, and Brett Rogers. And none them were particularly great wins.

Overeem only won the GP cause Saki's arm was busted from his fight with Ghita. Healthy Saki bodies him imo.

Ubereem was a specimen no doubt. That KO on Fujita was just brutal. But nowhere near "best run" by any definition I can think of.

Would have been such a great fight. Cormier was a beast back then with crazy power and grappling.

nevermind

Ubereem was so gassed in the 3rd round against Werdum in Strikeforce though, and likely would've lost had it been 5 rounds. Werdum actually outlanded Ubereem on the feet, and some even scored the fight in Werdum's favor. Would've favored Cain, DC and JDS over him in a 5 round fight looking back.

Yeah I am a Werdum fan. He is underrated top 3 HW of all time. Shame he got robbed vs Sergei and that he lost to Nog barely who avoided his threats but he did avenge the Nog loss. Also Werdum has such a good resume but never had a win streak more than 6. The Arlovski, JDS losses were strange and the Stipe loss was also strange.

Igor vovchanchyn’s undefeated run was better especially the one where he karate chops his opponent in the back of the neck (brain stem)
