Pride Wand vs Pride Little Nog

I went to PRIDE 33, so I was anticipating that fight for a few months before they went with Hendo. I always thought it would've been even. I think Wanderlei would've shut down the bjj of Rogerio, but the stand up would've been close.

Maybe a slight edge to Wanderlei due to his aggression.

Pride Wanderlei by better roids and unbridled aggression. Lil Nog was knocked out by Sokodjou the same way

Could go either way, Lil Nog is a lot bigger than Wand so if he got Silva on his back he'd win. If it's mostly standup he eats a lot of punches. I'd probably go Wand 60% of the time.
 
Lil nog has great chin and better boxing so even megaroid Silva has a small path to victory.
Did Silva ever manage to have much power? Just a roid grinder with wild swings.

They never fought and they're both retired, so it's a pointless speculation. Please move this to the fantasy matchup forum.

I would have given the edge to lil Nog at pretty much any point in their career. I don't think he'd get tagged/dropped by Wand's sloppy offense. . . but don't see Nog taking down or being able to keep Wandi down or sub him. Would be a cool fight, but I suspect a decision either way.

On the topic of "cool-but-never-happened", toward Pride's end there was at one point a push for Wandy vs Vovchanchyn. Who you got on that one, prime vs prime?
 
Lil Nog could be got at, like Sokodjou got to him.

If Sok could do that i think Wand could too.

Crazy that this never happened. Not only were they both top 205ers in PRIDE, but also members of rival academies.
Shogun/Nog was an all-time classic. Wand/Arona 1 & 2 were big fights. We were robbed.

No doubt Wand can catch him, but Little Nog has legitimate boxing. Shogun had serious trouble standing against him. Today, I can see Nog winning by decision in a scenario where he uses his boxing and takedowns, just like he did against Overeem.
 
i actually think stylistically it's a decent fight for Nog. His boxing and counters were real tight, and wand winged wild hooks. And wand had no ability to shoot a take down or anything if he got clipped to survive. As nog would have welcomed it and strangled him. Throw in a super strong chin for nog, makes for a real interesting fight it could have been.

I kinda think if the wand that lost to hendo fought Rogelio, he would’ve lost that too
