They are trying to mimic a scenario when a group of people try to beat the shit out of you out of nowhere and what you can do to fight back/defend yourself/escape

It's very interesting to see, even a well trained fighter cant do much when cornered and in front of a barrier of punch coming from everywhere

The fights are around:

- 15:00 (cyril)
- 21:00 (Gregory Bouchelaghem fromer fighter who fought Mousasi back then)

There is other brawls during the videos, if you liked the first two, go browse the rest of the video

edit: note the second dude who puts cigarette back in mouth, THEN tries to step up and just gets KO'd

Ive always been of the opinion that Diabate had some of the most underrated striking in mma.

He turned shogun into a panic wrestler.

FYI Diabate has for a couple of years been in a crusade against BS self-defense coaches.

Bouchelagem runs a very successful youtube channel. In some videos, he spars with decorated combat sports athletes and martial artists (Le Banner, Skarbowsky, Parnasse). In some others he tries self defense in "realistic" situations.

The third guy is a former kind of secret agent, now penchak silat instructor. He is a bad motherfucker.

I was hyped for Diabate vs Shogun. I was expecting a MT war.

Diabate blasts him with a flying knee and a straight punch in the first 20 seconds, and Shogun is done standing.

I was heart broken.

2 mins later Shogun is stomping on his head.

Ok nobody care about my topic, i guess i should have made an "-this fighter- is the goat" thread instead...

For one, hardly anyone knows who Diabate is, and you pro claiming he's a UFC/Pride Legend makes it a little worst as posters won't take this thread seriously.

Should have just called it " Cyril Diabate self defense videos." Or something like that.

Goat threads are stupid in itself, but at least there is worthwhile opinions and debates.

Best self defense is to walk away, unless you feel your life is danger then that's where a pistol or knife comes in.

UFC is terrible for fighting off multiple attackers, things like Aikido, Tai Chi, Wing Chung and Krav Maga were literally designed and trained for such purposes.

I'm enjoying this thread and want to track down more of these videos. I always liked Diabate.

@ehxsur the best threads on Sherdog are shortlived. The dumbshit threads thrive for weeks.

That one and Mir vs Barnett are both memorable to me for the exact same reason. I was hyped to see two high level competitors with similar specialties displaying their skill against one another. Then reality sets in and Shogun abandons his striking vs Cyril and Barnett finishes Mir with standing strikes clinched against the cage with nary a grappling exchange lol

According to many street fight videos, one of which is even in this thread already, boxing is pretty good at that too.

Aikido on the other hand, I haven't seen work like that outside of movies and presentations.

Aikido is prettyh deadly when combined with other martial arts, particularly krav maga. You misdirect them and redirect their momentum, then you crush them with a brutal move like ripping their arm out of its socket. Stphen Seagal was notorious for this.

The way the first dude fell is how people die in street altercations...

Also this is why u dont just walk up on people ...second dude tried to throw a naked leg kick and got blasted with his hand down...and first guy had no chance just walking mans down like he's invincible lol ... literally no reaction to the incoming shot lmfao

Exactly. Didn't anyone ever tell them to always keep their chins down?

In my opinion, chin down is the most important thing.
