Can we talk about prime Nog's GOAT durability? It's crazy that even with a power puncher like Fedor, the idea of KOing Nog wasn't really an option when this fight was taking place
 
Fedor in Pride was such a joy. Shit, all of Pride was awesome. The golden age in MMA.
 
Wow, you just don't see this kind of pace at HW anymore. Fedor was quite the athlete

02-06ish was the peak of the HW division. What an incredible division it was. Its very telling how washed up HWs from that era still had strong careers in the UFC. Hell a mid 40yo war torn Mark Hunt dropped and damn near finished Curtis Blaydes who will prolly go down as a top 3 HW of this era (top 5 certainly)

Fedor and Nog went a combined 60-2-1 to start their careers (excluding fights VS each other). Only 2 losses were the robbery to Hendo which Nog avenged decisively with a finish and the split decision GOAT HW fight with Barnett he avenged decisively too. Draw was to Kohsaka with some weird judging too

They are easily the 2 GOAT HWs. And Nog doesnt get enough credit in the GOAT convos b/c at his peak he was clearly #2 to Fedor and was blown out in their H2H but this dude was the GOAT HW pre Fedor, unanimous #1 P4P before the first Fedor fight and was an absurd 31-2-1 (2 losses mentioned earlier) by the time he claimed the UFC title

If Fedor didnt exist Nog wouldve been like 35-2-1 or something only guy that couldve beat him at his peak besides Fedor was peak Mirko who almost did it their first fight.
 
What an absolute clinic by Fedor. Look at how quick Fedor used to be, you get older you lose that and it changed his fighting style.

Nog has the GOAT durability/recovery IMO.

Dude was run over by a 12000lbs truck at 11yo.

Took a beating from Mirko who is the GOAT kicker in MMA by far that wouldve ended almost anyone, and ended up with a finish

Outweighed by 170lbs VS pure roids/muscle/strength Bob Sapp who was one of if not the scariest human beings on the planet in 2002 (finished Ernesto Hoost twice in kickboxing who is one of the GOAT kickboxers), got piledrived on his head and still finished him

Aside from those fights and against Fedor he didnt take much beatings in his purime tho. He was mostly dominant against a wide array of styles but ppl remember him taking more damage against lesser foes and coming back in UFC with Herring (who he destroyed twice when they were both purimed) and Sylvia

His durability was superhuman but so was his fighting ability
