"The Simpsons" officially surpassed "The Flintstones" as the longest running prime time animated series, when they aired the episode titled, "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show"

Discuss, millennial geezers...

And then the next year, we were all talking about this new cool show "South Park"...
I did not have cable. But I remember my friend Steven telling me about it one day. He was talking about this cartoon where these kids cussed and how funny it was. I even remember that we were walking along a canal to go to the store.

Yeah, I remember where I was as well when I first heard about it. I specifically remember Gym class, and a few of the guys just talking about how this new show was so crazy and "way better" than "The Simpsons", because there was so much swearing in it, and whatnot.

Funny how these shows are still on the mountain top. "Simpsons" not so much, although it's still very much relevant, but South Park is still cranking out top tier shit. Crazy.

I thought Simpsons was great up until I was like 13. Then I just lost interest.

I was still in elementary school.

Season 8 is definitely one of the peak Simpsons seasons for me

I feel 1-11 or so are classic television. Even through 14 you still have solid stuff. But nowadays you’re just not going to get anywhere near that level of season 8 type quality.

You can find good modern ones here and there but it’s all relative. Even the best episode you catch in season 30 would rank dead last if you transported it to season 8.
