Barca couldn't do anything about that, it was a release clause that kicked in because he didn't play enough games in that season. Not sure which coach that was who never wanted to play him. So happy that he plays well for Betis!

we didn't offer him a new contract and more playing time. Enrique despised him.
He would have stayed if he got maybe 15-20 starts, and he was surely ready considering Mascherano was fucking wank and Mathieu was past it.

It's a miracle. No one knows why. They just keep showing up. La Liga is deep now. The top may not be quite as strong as it used to be while the bottom half is stronger than ever. 4 years ago the collective television rights deal that was signed was great for the league and allowed the non Real/Barca clubs to earn a lot more money through the TV deal and thus keep their young good players. It's as competitive as it has ever been. It's why we are seeing so many upsets the last couple of years. Hardly ever a gimme game anymore.

However, Granada is just a miracle at the moment. They have lost some of their best players and are still there. It won't last but it is remarkable, similar to Getafe hanging around 4th until the very end last season.
