They slotted the show right after AEW, pretty much to get views from wrestling fans. But then this ish happened...

RIP JAY BRISCOE ( JAMIN PUGH )
upload_2023-1-19_15-53-55.png

* Note: Jay Briscoe made an Anti- LGBTQ+ comment over a decade a go ( he apologized numerous times, became a changed man ), which made him & his bro a liabilty to be put on major network. WWE almost signed them, when Tony Khan (AEW owner) purchased Ring of Honor, Warner Bro. Media said you can have all ROH talent on TV except The Briscoes, pretty much black listed to be on Network TV.

Moral of story is NO ANTI-GAY comments, but its all good when it comes to Domestic Violence.

I don’t know anything about all that wrestling stuff but it’s been obvious since it’s inception that power slap will be a failure.

I don't understand the conclusion.

Powerslap aliened wrestling fans, because Warner Bros didn't want to do a Jay Briscoe tribute?

What is WBD?

Acronym
Definition

WBD Warner Bros. Discovery

WBD World Book Day
WBD World Biodiversity Database (project database)
WBD Watershed Boundary Dataset (various locations)
WBD Will Be Done
WBD Wisconsin Business Development (est. 1982)
WBD Writing by Design
WBD Wideband Data
WBD Whole Building Diagnostician
WBD Wide Band Data Instrument (Cluster spacecraft)

First one, right? And it came from a different website.

As expected. Looking like Another failed side venture for Dana

Did you watch it? I did. Entertaining as fuck. If I want to be sophisticated I'll go pay $9 for some beta ass latte at Starbucks.

Lol, no I didn’t. I could already tell from the copious amounts of ads on UFC programming it was the lowest form of entertainment and combat sports, if you can even call it that. I can think of about a thousand things I’d rather spend my time doing, including getting a latte from Starbucks and I don’t even like coffee.

There's some history with the Briscoes (specifically Jay) and old tweets that were bad (homophobic).

By all accounts, they were 10+ years ago, dude has shown growth and apologized, etc, but allegedly WBD didn't let AEW sign them a couple years back because of that history.

If WBD wouldn't let them have a tribute for those same reasons, I think that's where the beef is. You won't let them do a tribute to this guy who made bad tweets a decade ago but tried to redeem himself, but you'll deal with Dana after the slap, promoting slap fighting... I think.

MMA fans are truly trash they want everyone and everything to fail. This is only the beginning the Slap Army will grow!!

I also think that's what TS was trying to say, but that's not what OP is saying. It seems to suggest Powerslap had some decision making.

Powerslap/Dana White/ect was not a active party in this situation.

Right, that is at least my guess.

I haven't looked at all into this specific situation with the tribute, but I know the rest of that history, and that's the closest conclusion I can come to.

I assumed the key demo for slap fighting was brain damaged shut-ins

Wow, a shitty slap league smoked ONE with DJ and Eddie fighting which did 196k, ranked 88th and a 0.08 That’s sad and ONE followed a really good AEW.

295k, ranked 45th and a 0.10 is a much better than ONE with a solid card.

The card had their two most popular American stars in former UFC champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez. It also had a decorated Muay Thai star in Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the headliner, and viral star and Senegalese wrestling champion Reug Reug in the prelims to help drive interest.

It was a strong offering, with an even better lead-in on TNT with AEW and Mike Tyson’s return. It seemed to be the best case scenario for the promotion, but according to showbuzzdaily, its Nielsen ratings were a flop.

TNT’s pro-wrestling show AEW was the 5th highest rated show on cable, with a household rating of 0.28. Shortly after, ONE only produced a .08 rating in the same demographic, and dropped all the way to 88th with just 196,000 viewers.

Woah dude, you are a hard man. Real alpha watches tv, while soy boys don't and drink coffee. PS. Starbucks is overpriced and not even defending them, but you can get a normal coffee from them for like $3
