Among the changes are clarifications or redefinition of scoring criteria, and standardizing WMMA attire. Biggest changes:
Both of these are good news for the sport, IMO. The grounded opponent rule was silly and eye pokes were a ticking time bomb waiting to happen.

On topic: About time they changed that stupid grounded rule. Makes so much more sense. Any time a rule is abused, it should be looked at, IMO. Too many guys would put their hand down when a knee was being lined up, rather than trying to improve on position or get out of there. Also, this favours strikers, so I'm all for that.

    Poke one makes sense too.

Off topic: That guy from Clash Royale, in your AV, looks so creepy. Like, hangs outside schools creepy.

Why do they still get repeated warnings? The ref says he's been over the rules in the dressing room, they've fought before and been warned before. Start pulling the trigger and taking points in 1st round.

A "talk to the hand" manner...

Is it a "huge, huge safety issue" though? How many fighters have been damaged by fingers?

Well, considering it's your eyeballs... yes it's a huge issue.

I see the potential damage, but there's lots of potential damage in fighting. You could fuck up someone by knees to the head, ala Cyborg, i.e.

Both were just shitty things happening in fights no matter how you wanna measure it. These are ideal fixes.

The first one is forever known as the Jon Jones Rule.

Just about everyone that fought jones. Also Rumble had to have surgery from an eye poke. Browne/meathead is another example of how an eye poke can be dangerous. It closed up his eye and he couldn't see.

True, but you can fix stuff like that to an extent. You can't fix your eye.
I'm glad Jon is gone for 2 years, fuck that guy.

I still think being able to use your hands to "ground" yourself is stupid. It should be a knee or your butt and back, that's it. And when you're grounded, you should be able to kick regardless if the other person is grounded or not making up kicks more available from your back. Makes no sense not to be able to kick to the head when you yourself are grounded.

Poking people's eyes was always illegal. The difference is it's now illegal to stick your fingers out, pointing at your opponents face.

In some ways I'm okay with that, or I don't care, but in other ways I find it ridiculous that you can't even point at someone's face in the supposedly most realistic fighting sport around.

What's the purpose of pointing in combat?

It's supposedly dangerous, which is part of what constitutes combat.

.... what? Anything dangerous is combat?.... so it should be allowed in MMA? Is that what you're saying?

Are you in favor of throat strikes and eye gouging too?

No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying that eye poking is already illegal. I don't really care if it's made illegal to point your fingers at someone - but it does seem like kinda ridiculous to me. At least start by making actual eye poking having consequenses.
