Hey, guys!

I've been planning a vacation and I've narrowed it down to 2 countries. It will be either Hong Kong or Philippines. Now being the mat rat that I am, I just have to train most of the time. If I go do go to Hong Kong, I already know to go to Caporal's school for some quality training. Now, I've been to the Philippines before, Manila specifically, and what I want to experience is the "provincial" side of Philippines. While searching for places to train at that aren't in Manila I stumble across this:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Brazilian-Jujitsu-Team-Reamico/354285411348843

https://www.facebook.com/ReamicoJiujitsuCamSur

And I also saw this according to a testimonial that I read: "They are discussing passing the half guard when I arrived. Sir Cleus of Reamico Jiu-Jitsu is a humble and courteus man I assumed he stands 5'4" Details on my interview on him: He is 35 years old; he was a student of Allan Goes, a Brazilian MMA fighter. He is a black belt He begain his BJJ during the 1990's when he stayed in the US."

Now, I'm not one to judge since I'm only a sandbagging white belt but I don't think this guy is legitimate. I've tried researching about him and I can't find anything about him.

If any of you are Allen Goes students, can you please ask him yourself about this Mr. Reamico?

Did you see anything in their page that makes you suspect he is not legit? Or are you assuming that based on the fact you couldn't find much online about him? He's in "provincial" Philippines for Christ sake, at least according to you. Not everybody is a legend with a page on BJJ Heroes. If you are going there anyway, just stop by and have a roll with him. If he kick your white belt butt he can probably teach you something useful.
Sometimes I think people are paranoid about degrees, lineage and all this BJJ police crap.

If there was a like button, I would of spammed it after reading this post.

To the TS, there isn't a complete black belt listing online, you think guys with black belts are super rare and everyone of them has a page dedicated to them? lol Stop worrying and train.

If you took a little time to read the facebook page, you'd see that these guys have kids competing in the Pan Asians and other tournaments in the Philippines. The second FB page has been around since 2008. He's had an affiliate academy open for 5 years, which means his main academy has most likely been open longer. He clearly has been in the game for a while, so I would probably not make unreasonable accusations and STFU and train.

What makes you say that?

Why did you have to put possible fake in the thread title? That's a pretty bad accusation to make. Why not just ask first if anyone knows anything about him and go from there.

One of the black belts on here was recently accused of being a fake, and he had to go through a bunch of stuff to clear his name because some guy just felt like accusing him of being a fake.

This stuff kills me, we are talking about visiting a gym correct? I guess I could understand a bit more if we were talking about signing a contract or something but to visit on vacation? give me a break.

Edit I just wanted to add this stuff kind of borders on slander, maybe not in a leagal since but just the accusation or insuation........

I agree, but take it easy on the TS guys, it's clear he's new to the scene and got the completely wrong things set as priorities. Problem with the internet and "I TRANE UFC" mentalities....

Hmm. If you Google his name on the BJJ Federation of the Philippines website, the results shows that he's had a team for quite a while, with students medaling in local competitions almost every year since 2004.

But when you search his name on Youtube, the first result is this video in which he grapples with an "MMA fighter." I'm also a lowly white belt so I don't feel qualified to make any judgments about his skill level but it bothered me that he crosses his ankles in rear mount and doesn't finish with a locked in rear naked choke. Maybe others can chime in.

Anyway, OP, I hope you eventually get a definitive answer because I'm curious too. In the meantime, here are some other BJJ options in the Phils outside of Manila:

Cebu:
Pages Brothers BJJ (PJ Pages - Brown Belt under Jay Pages)
Deftac Cebu (Norman Go - Brown Belt under Alvin Aguilar)
Gracie Jiu Jitsu Philippines (Jerome Casolari - Purple Belt under John Acosta)

Boracay:
Legacy Gym (Marcus Waters - Black Belt under Carlos Machado)

Davao:
Team Warrior (Hamir Achacoso - Blue Belt under Stephen Kamphuis, 2nd Degree Judo Black Belt)
Cenojas MMA (Mars Cenojas - Blue Belt under Stephen Kamphuis)

Baguio:
Lakay MMA Tap Team (Mark Sangiao)

In Manila you have atos Philippines I think. Ask them where to train in the provinces.

I love how white belts come on the forum and try and call out blackbelts. Youre a white belt. The only training partner that you could probably effectively handle is <15 year olds. You guys amaze me

Sorry for the bump but I just found out that the Reamico Jiu Jitsu guy from the Philippines is a fake and a fraud. Just thought I should warn people in case they plan on training there.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You're gonna have to do better than that!:icon_neut

LOL Okay. I'll post a picture of me asking an actual Allan Goes blackbelt named Erik Lund on Facebook about this Cleus Reamico guy as soon as I get home.

But long story short, he says that him and Mestre Goes does not know this Cleus guy and never gave him a black belt.

Here's my conversation with the Allan Goes blackbelt.

Silence from all of the previous "STFU White belt" posters.

Hahaha I'm okay with all the "STFU white belt" posts though. I've been competing in wrestling for a while now and just won a silver medal in the Nationals for free style. I just wanted to learn BJJ 'cause it seemed fun.

So you post with a username "hatecake" claiming that a guy isn't a legit BB, say that you just won a silver at nationals. In which country did you win nationals?

I never told you to "shut up".

I think it's irresponsible to make a thread calling someone a fake without
investigating the matter
first.
