So I watched Shame (2011) today. I'm sure a lot of you watched it, it's about a sex addict dude and shit. So it got me thinking about my relationship with pornography, and I wanted to know your opinion on the matter guys.

Do you think pornography addiction exists ?
If so, what cases are indeed addiction ?

There is no ''physical'' adiction in the sense that you go shaking and shit like with heroin when in withdrawls, but I'm not sure I can spend 4 days in a row not wanking to porn. Is that addiction ? What defines porn addiction ?

Anyway, I'm not sure where I'm headed with this thread but wanted your guys opinion on the topic, thanks :)

Edit : Sorry for my french, portuguese is my second language ??
Edit : I drank beers before watching the movies and English is my 50th language ok !?

The only thing more pathetic than being addicted to porn is being addicted to caffeine.

why are you sure alot of us have watched a movie about porn addiction?

Porn addiction definitely exists. Something can be psychologically addicting rather than physically addicting.

Personally, I think that porn is overall a net negative for society, especially now that the Internet is here. Back in the day when "looking at porn" meant you had a few magazines stashed in the closet or you had a few VHS tapes, that was one thing. But now that it's so easily accessible in such vast quantities, it's much easier for the shit to get out of hand.

Then on top of that, it's not just that porn is out there, it's also the KIND of porn that's out there. You can basically find material for any perversion and many people have found that their drive for porn got weirder and more bizarre as time went on, which ultimately had a negative psychological effect on them.

porn stars have to not wank for up to 2 weeks before shoots to save up increasingly large loads

addicted to porn?

how about real pussy? haha

Regularly viewing porn changes your brain chemistry and sexual performance and desire; addiction or not. This is proven science.

Porn has become so normalized and ingrained into our society people don't even realize the effect it's having.

Even if you're just a regular dude that regularly masturbates to it, it is effecting your brain and dampening your sexual performance.

Don't say you weren't ever told about it now.

Michael Fassbender from X-Men, Macbeth, Inglorious bastard, etc. is the main actor. So I guessed it was a popular movie (?)

Did you live in that time where there was no internet porn ? Man, being 21 I so don't know what that shit was like. People had to look at pictures and magazines and shit... What was ''porn'' like in these days ?

I know, in one masturbating sesh I can see more hot chick than people saw in an entire lifetime two hundred years ago. That is fucked up !

If you think you are addicted to something, then spend 3 weeks without it.

If you can't do it, then yes, you are addicted.

Ha ha. I was in my mid-teens when the Internet came around, but since my sex drive kicked in before that I had a few years of staying up late to jack off to Cinemax gentleman's shows and of sneaking around with my step-dad's porn collection (which consisted of a small stack of magazines and four or five VHS tapes).

Like I said, I really don't think it's good that you can get porn of any flavor on demand and in vast quantities now. There's just something unnatural about it and I can't see how it can do anything other than ultimately be harmful to real world relationships. @Der Eisbar pretty much hit the nail on the head with his earlier post.

Cinemax gentleman's ? You mean a bunch of guys 'bating in the same cinema room ?

Read the OP you goof. I said I tried 4 days. Ban this guy, mods !

I read it. Don't be a pussy, try again. Just because you failed at something once, doesn't mean you automatically give up on it forever. Unless you are cool with being addicted, in which case, have fun & stop crying about it.

My understanding is that porn addiction is when you replace sex with porn, and also can't become stimulated from sex or masturbation without it.

When porn takes away your desire to have sex, that's getting pretty far gone.

If you watch porn with your lady together, and even make your own together, then that's the best of both worlds imo.

Part of the problem is the lack of effort needed to enjoy.

Back in the day as a young adult you had to work for your porn based fapping. First you had to aquire it (be borrow or steal), then you had to hide it, then you had to wait for the opportune time to "use" it (in the case of vhs tapes). And there was no menu, what you could aquire was what you had.

Kids also don't know the struggle of watching scrambled tv for the glimpse of something while enjoying the audio, or pausing (or rewinding and replaying) a good R rated movie at the good part (when your parents weren't home or want to bed) or even the lingere part of a jcpennys catalog.
