Its true man. I took the experiment very seriously. I'm not even saying the Catholic church is not the true church. I think it is.

Way too many lukewarm priests... Way way to few contemplative priests and nearly nobody in the laity that's even taking the stages seriously. Hell... most of them don't even know there are recognizable stages let alone being able to recognize them and navigate them. It's a great tragedy imo.

It honestly breaks my heart.

Weird how it’s only ever Christianity that ‘Atheists’ decry.

You never see threads or hear discussions like this on other religions.

Because there is only one true religion and they are satanists, whether they know it or not.
Your premise is false. As an atheist my lack of belief is the same for all religions, none of which I decry unless they attempt to impose their beliefs on others.

Honestly I interpreted your saying that you hadn't been going to Mass, as also saying that you hadn't been taking Communion - which was wrong.

You will tend to be disappointed when expecting too much of the general public.

There are various courses and retreats for people in your kind of position, around here anyway, so there probably are where you are. But I expect you've thought of that. I hope your spiritual path proceeds well.

I think a better use of language is:

I don't believe in God = Agnosticism
God does not exist = Atheism

No atheism is just no belief in god or gods. Just like someone being asexual is someone without sexual attraction to men or women

I don't see how but it doesn't really matter really. Noone who tries to think logically can say God certsinly doesn't exist as its an unproveable premise.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.

I can't say I believe the European pagan religions more than the abrahamic ones but the stories are more interesting to me. Their gods often being flawed, capricious or just plain assholes does make a lot more sense when you look at the world.
I don't think the stories being literally true is the point of a lot of religion.

There are enormous differences. The Abrahamic "Semetic Shite" is universal and foreign, centralized, monotheistic, dualist, afterlife focused, orthodox, with a lot of dogma, doctrine, and inherent mandates where a person's worth is conditional. OTOH, something like Norse paganism is ethnic and indigenous, decentralized, polytheistic, pluralist, life-affirming, orthopraxic, non-proselytizing with no dogma, doctrine, or inherent mandates where a person's worth is tied to existence. It's more spiritual than necessarily religious. It didn't revolve around concepts of sin, submission, or salvation. There is no soul but rather four primary components of self: hamr (physical form), hugr (cognitive thought), fylgja (attendant spirit), and hamingja (inherent luck tied to lineage). The relationship to the gods is transactional with no expectation of unconditional obedience.

Because people don't get their heads cut off for disrespecting Christianity. This isn't the old days.

Take the piss out of Christianity and the Inquisition won't kick in your door and drag you away to be burned at the stake. Draw a cartoon of Mohammed, and a couple of assholes with AK47's might turn up at your office for a quiet chat.

I thought this was rather moving. The Catholic Church places enormous importance on ritual and tradition, so it was nice to see them bend the rules so the late Pope's friend could mourn him.
