Poor man's Anderson Silva

This is all true, but since this is sherdog you just know that guys like Izzy were getting overhyped to Bolivia when he was winning, so it's only natural that there will be a hard swing the other way when he finally loses. For every action there's an equal and opposite reaction.

There is a level of truth to what you are saying, and it was echoed in the live commentary during the match (Rogan, Cormier). Nevertheless, he isn still a young talent that is still learning as he trains. I don't see any defined attributes to Silva's background, but the critics will always find a way to tear down someone after a loss.

It's obvious that's who he tries to emulate most, he even said so himself, but he comes up short.

Anderson had a different aura about him, didn't have that insecure millennial vibe, and didn't obsess about his own greatness like that. The guy would literally always tell you that someone else is the greatest, and downplay his own skills. He never called dudes out, never picked his opponents, never talked shit on social media, or act like he was more special than the rest of the roster... aside from the greatness he would display inside the cage, he pretty much flew under the radar.

Izzy is just a cheap immitation who tries too hard, but lacks the aura and charisma to pull it off and be likable. He goes out of his way to get attention and steal other people's ideas and accomplishments, but just failed miserably at attempting to take down 205's like Anderson did. Now it's back to 185 with his tail between his legs, only about 10 title defense away from matching the spider there, good luck.

well, to be fair, it's not easy to do what anderson did.

Izzy tried his best, but his downfall is the same and anderson, got caught up in his own hype.

He wasn't insecure yet he obviously was on PEDs? Well that makes no sense.... lol

went unbeaten for like 7 yeats beat multiple lhw one of them a former champ made it look easy what has easy done

Whats worse :

Losing a close fight against a gigantic well rounded LHW with KO power.
or
Getting subbed against 2 undersized japanese journeymen

?

None of them come close to tapping to strikes to a 5'2" Journeyman Italian

That guy is still bigger than the 2 guys who subbed Silva. And Silva is one weight class bigger than GSP. Do the math.

Fact : Silva lost multiple guys relatively smaller to his size than GSP did.

Anderson is the man, for sure! But he totally called out GSP.

If you think Silva would've gone up and ran over current Jan like he did to Stephan Bonnar or Forrest Griffin you're smoking crack lol. The Irvin, Bonnar and Griffin.... When Griffin is the best LHW victory you've had under the UFC banner. No offense to the guy, he was fun to watch... but he was pillow fisted and other than his gas tank and effort wasn't a premier level fighter. Silva never faced a truly dangerous LHW in the UFC... So comparing what he did to Isreal trying to fight the current best LHW is apples and oranges.
Broadly agree—Izzy would've similarly KOd the people Anderson did (tho maybe not with as much style, or quite as quickly).

The main takeaway I have from UFC 259 is Jan being more technical than I gave him credit for

Silva wasn't top 10 when he was losing every other fight in pride and was put on a highlight reel by midget Ryo Chonan, whats your point
so what he s beaten way better guys than chonan hendo ko ed wand and fedor and silva clouned him got the fuck out of here

Hendo was Silva's best and only solid win that I could see being in today's top 5, and I'm being generous.

Forrest is normally harder than a coffin nail, would have liked to have seen a sober Forrest fight..

Cool story.

50 years from now people will still talk about Anderson as one of the greatest, and most wont remember Weidman's name. They'll be like "what was the name of that guy that finally ended his win streak".

Adesanya's 20-1 record is far better than Silva's 20-4 record he had at a similar point in his career. Almost all the guys Silva beat in the UFC wouldn't be top 10 in today's division. And he's a much better striker than Anderson.

It's probably worse when Israel got beat up by that 12 year old when he was 10.

We're obviously comparing their dominant runs, not Silva's Jungle Fight career or his fights after he started to decline.

Izzy definitely should work on BJJ. He seems to pose no threat there.

MW fighters won't have a 25-30lb advantage on him but they should be trying as hard as possible to get the fight to the ground vs Izzy after what we saw.

Kelvin did the best vs Izzy most likely due to him actually threating a takedown a few times.

He does this thing where he leans back trying to counter and leaves himself open for takedowns.
