Poll: You think Luke Will perform better at LHW or he is suited at MW where he has a size advantage?

Better in what way?

He becomes champ? Which is tough considering who the LHW champ is

Or

He just physically operates better?

I pick A. I can't see how not cutting the weight won't help, he was draining himself way to much for 185.

That said he still needs to work on dat striking defense or lack there of.

Its tough to become champ when Jones is champ so lets say he operates better. Lets say if he is a top 3 LHW since I feel Gus would probably beat him too.

depends, i don't know if not having to cut to MW will give him a better chin, but even if it does the guys at LHW hit harder so will it even matter? we'll just have to see.

LHW is dogshit outside of a couple guys, rockhold's super skilled and technically better than almost the whole division, it's really about whether or not his chin/defense holds up.

if rockhold could improve his TD's and stop thinking he's a boxer (just keep it at kicking range)then he's for sure top 3 at LHW, because his top game/BJJ is terrifying. skill wise he's already a top 3 LHW, again it's just about whether or not his chin/defense holds up.

I think any fighter who struggles mightily to make weight will benefit from a weight class change. Doesn't mean they won't encounter adversity when they reach the top tier of their new class though.

Seems like 195 would be his optimal fighting weight. He should do fine at 205, but extra weight won't give him a chin and he certainly won't be beating the juicehead.

He's going to operate better.

Better endurance, quicker, stronger, and better chin. (Take into account the damage he's already taken.)

That is if he doesn't try to add too much weight to his frame.

I'll always hold a special place in my heart for Luke because he beat the ever loving piss out of Chris Weidman who is the worst person in MMA history. But this new "I'm going to show off my hands" tactic is going to keep getting him in trouble.

We all know where the bulk of his mass really is

I think he'll be fine at light-heavy.

If his durability improves, he'll be a problem.

Based on the clear trend of fighters doing better when they move up in weight, I'm going to predict his chin will be much better and he'll have more KO power, being less drained at 205.

He'll be better, but I doubt he ever wins the belt.

That's scientifically incorrect.

Fighting at a higher weight improves your chin. This is because cutting too much weight drains water from the meninges, the layers cushioning your brain in your skull. Dehydrating this cushion makes you more susceptible to being KO'd and getting brain damage. When you rehydrate without IV rehydration, that spongy brain layer doesn't rehydrate fast enough.

By cutting a lower % bodyweight at 205, Rockhold should have a much better chin. Now, he's still gonna get tagged if he hangs his chin high in the air with his hands down, but he's not as likely to get KO'd.

I think so. LHW is a much shallower division, and two much less talented MWs rocketed their way into title shots within a year of their entry.

Not saying he'll win the title at LHW but I think he'll be a better fighter at 205.

I never understood how people don't get something so simple. If you're dehydrated your brain bounces off your skull more lol.Seems quite simple to me.

LHW is awful. Two straight MW journeyman have gotten title shots almost immediately. Luke will be just fine at 205.
