Poll: will Donald Trump ever release his taxes or agree to a debate?

Part of me just refuses to believe that he is intentionally running his campaign this way. Partially because just on his resume, I thought he'd be a decent candidate since I prefer candidates with real world accomplishments. Now, I'm trying to find some reason why my previous assumption seems so incredibly wrong.

I think your mistake springs from the fact that most of Trump’s real world accomplishments are actually nothing of the sort. All his greatest successes were either handed to him by his father or kept by virtue of his father’s influence. There was an article posted in the WR room not that long ago that explored the fact that Trump would’ve been finished a long time ago if his father hadn’t bailed him out again and again, with money or called favors.

On his own, Donald’s biggest talent besides self-promotion seems to be the ability to make sure other people are left holding the bag for his failures.

Fred Trump may have been racist slumlord piece of shit, but he was a very intelligent, scrupulously hardworking and modest racist slumlord piece of shit. His son inherited all his flaws but none of his virtues it would seem.

Another possibility is that accomplishment and experience in one walk of life doesn’t necessarily translate well into other walks of live. Trump for instance has spent his entire life in autocratic institutions, were the boss’s word (his father’s or his own) was law. He has never had to be accountable to a board of directors or stockholders. He has never had to engage in negotiation where the objective was compromise and a mutually beneficial deal, as opposed to zero-sum games where the objective is to screw the other guy over as much as possible.

I can't imagine he'd even think about releasing his tax returns. He's so deep in made up self promotion around his wealth that it would be devastating for him in more than just the elections.

I have to believe that he'll debate though. Tapping out that easily must be one of the most humiliating things in politics, even more so than being destroyed in a debate, so I can't see anyone tucking their tail and run that badly. Whether he'll try to turn the debates into a farce is a different matter.
But it wouldn't be tapping; his supporters will call it canny political strategy and crown him the King of the debates he never participated in.

I can understand why people aren't voting for Hillary; I cannot fathom why those voters are convincing themselves that Trump is therefore a genius of any sort. It's baffling.
One can not want Hillary to be POTUS for legit reasons. One cannot, as far as I can see, call Trump qualified for any legit reasons.

Trump knows he has to debate, it's silly BS to suggest he wouldn't.

However, he has a real reason to be worried about them. The Networks will engineer the questions in favor of Hillary.

If he does make it to one, that will probably be his excuse. Might also create the opportunity for him to save face in the election, like by encouraging his supporters not to vote.

Maybe he'll release it when Hillary decides to release the transcripts of her $3M paid speeches to global banks.

Yeah, I'm not saying that I'm sure to be right, I just see it as hugely humiliating so that anyone should avoid it. And there will indeed be people praising him no matter what he does.

Oh, I know all of this. I've looked into it in great detail since he announced his candidacy and as new information presents itself, I update my understanding of the man. Hence my slow but steady movement away from supporting him.

Look, I'm not the one saying that Donald J. Trump has repeatedly donated large sums of money to a pro-pedophile organization. That's a totally irresponsible thing to claim. Utterly baseless speculation.

It's just that lots of people, very smart people, have been saying Donald Trump supports the North American Man/Boy Love Association.

He hasn't publicly denied it even once. I mean, I would if someone accused me of supporting such an organization, but he hasn't said anything about it.

He refuses to release his tax returns, possibly because they reveal Donald Trump's vast contributions to NAMBLA.

When it comes to the theory that Donald Trump is in favour of pederasty, we have no evidence one way or another.

We can conclude that we don't know what the hell is going on. It is suspicious? Of course. Could Donald Trump easily put these rumours to rest? Of course. But if you're asking me if he definitely supports NAMBLA, I don't know what to believe. You tell me.

Well done Glenn, very well done.

I like trump, he seems like a cool guy.

I really dont understand how anyone could not want to vote for trump. Having trump as president for 4 years would be flipping awesome, as apposed to 4 or 8 more boring years of obama under hillary. We really fucked up in 1919 giving women the right to vote.

Oh, but his company did go public for a short time.

Filings show that someone who invested $100 in DJT in 1995 would have lost 90% of their money by 2000 -- and been left with just $8.72.

DJT filed for bankruptcy in 2004, wiping out the holdings of all shareholders, including Trump.

But soon after, the company emerged from bankruptcy and Trump continued to reap benefits from it. He earned another $6.1 million from the company, now called Trump Entertainment Resorts.

This company had the ticker symbol TRMP. It didn't fare any better. TRMP lost nearly $2 billion from mid-2005 through mid-2010 and filed for bankruptcy in 2009.

I think he has to do at least one debate, although he is setting up a bail out by saying they're rigged. I also read he is trying to control who moderates and the questions asked. Lol, sounds like he doesn't want to participate because he claims they're rigged but will do them if he can rig them! I don't think the debate will go well for him either, so it is entirely possible he doesn't do even one. He'd have to weigh the costs of a bad performance vs perception of lookng like a pussy.

My guess is he will never release his tax returns (very low chance). One of two things are probable: he shows losses and people call him out on being as wealthy as he claims or he pays very little tax and is criticized for that. Both look bad.

This type of shit is probably why he likes him.
That's what worries me:
Not that he might win, because that's looking pretty safe. It's that he behaves in this manner, and people support that.

It reminds me of this real asshole I used to work with. He had a mean streak that went to his bones, and discussing him once, I commented that he laughs at all the wrong things.
Somebody would tumble off a commode or drop a drink on themselves in ICU, and the guy would laugh

Meh, I don't care if he takes full advantage of the tax laws, I'm sure the Clintons do too.
