This Houston City Councilman thinks so, behold:



"City of Houston Councilman Dwight Boykins called for Blacks to patrol black neighborhoods and so on in the wake of the Dallas police shooting. Does moving backwards on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 help solve the racial tension in the US? Does his plan have merit? Does his plan cause more problems than it solves?"



Personally I don't think the notion of his idea is out of line at all.

[Caveat] Oddly friends of mine who are black say that, black cops treat them like shit more times than not. And when I think back, the best dealing I've had with cops have always been with Black Cops. The white ones being fucking pricks many times.

If we could have serious police officers match the residents of their communities then that would make a major difference. I just don't know how feasible it is nor do I like the idea the use of racial quotas.

I agree. There is so much hate from some blacks toward white cops. Black neighborhoods really need black cops. They couldn't call everything racism and we wouldn't be in this race war.

I think it definitely helps remove the racial element from the equation.

The cops will still be concerned at stops and make mistakes or power trip.
Some civilians will still be terrible people, defy authority, and mistrust cops.

But people won't be able to blame any of those factors on race anymore, and, without that explosive distraction, maybe the other, arguably more important factors, can start to be addressed.

Looks good from a kumbaya holding hands under a rainbow media perspective, but in reality this is going to result in a bunch of black cops getting the nastiest, most dangerous, violent crime ridden areas of town while white cops will spend most of their time handing out parking tickets and dealing with kids necking in the back seat. On top of that, it'll leave minority groups in any type of neighborhood complaining about not being represented by the police.

It's not just being overweight. That's only a part of it. It's also about how to properly deal with volatile situations and using appropriate force.
