Please sign a petition for working out in public parks.

This is retarded. If you are at a park with a million kids running around and you want to do pullups you deserve to get arrested. Go find someplace else to workout, or work out there when there are not a million kids there, like, say... 7:00 in the morning.

If I was at the park with my daughter and there was a 6'5 250 lb pudgy guy in his underwear sporting a tattoo of the grim reaper on his back and he was hitting the same truck tires that kids were playing on with a sledge hammer or scythe (or whatever it is called that the grim reaper holds), I would call the police too.

Some posters have come up with good suggestions, like asking the public works department to put in a pullup bar or PAR course. That is better than signing a petition.

I enjoy working out at the park just as anyone else does but either do it at the right time (like ass crack of dawn) or go to the parks with equipment made for fitness enthusiasts. I'd rather have cops hassle every person doing pullups then allow some creep with a thing for kids use the excuse that he was just working out.

the whole idea that no one should be *gasp* in the presence of children unless they are supervising a child themselves shows how fearful our society has become. Don't most molestations happen at the hands of someone who was supposed to be watching the kid anyway? As for excuses to be there, it wouldn't be hard for a :eek::eek::eek: to just bring a kid with them if they havn't been caught yet and therefore still have access to children.

I didnt realize this was an actual problem. I frequently run through the park by my house and use the monkey bars for chinup aswell as some tree's and run the stairs. Stupid rules.

all the rule are stupid till you find out the "workout guy" from the park butt raped the poor fat kid that sat alone on the see saw.

Anyone ever got on the site where you can see where sexual predators live in your town? Find that site, then you'll understand why they have that rule. You'll be shocked at how many are in your town/city.

That would be my major concern. Is there a college campus in your neck of the woods? They usually have quads or trails to run on and it's not so disquieting as a public park.

Would this be so tough? Make an adult section of the park. Most parks have tennis courts/walls, fishing areas, soccer/baseball fields, places where adults congregate for activity, why not make a section for the adults? What do you need besides an elevated platform,, maybe a sit-up station. a dip station and a pull-up station. That would cost you about 40 bucks to build with materials from Home Depot.

That's what should be done. Female (and male) parents can be intimidated by a guy busting out dips and muscle-ups on a playground meant for kids. Sure, the guy could be the nicest guy in the world, but with his shirt off powering through a workout, it can be pretty intimidating for those that don't understand.
Especially the kids.

P.S. Chris Hansen is watching you...

I do understand the concerns of some on here the fact of the matter is a PUBLIC park is a PUBLIC park and anyone has access the right to use it.

I use the park beside my house which has a mile jogging track around it if I want to do pull ups on the monkey bars on my way home go ahead and call the police. What do you think you can be charged with???? Exercising in a public park????

A bunch of us set up the mats and grapple a bit and bring out the gloves and thai pads. Mind you we do not take off our shirts or walk around in spandex fight shorts but we tend to draw a big crowd of people wondering what we are doing and the next thing you know we have a few new people coming out with thier kids to workout.

i utilized my old schools playground all summer...had to wait til bout 7 and it'd be empty, even brought the mutt and let her run a muck.

Tell me exactley what you could be arrested for??

You probably could not get arrested, and if you did, it is unlikely you would get charged.

What I think would happen is that a police officer would ask you not to work out there and if you created a ruckus you would be charged with something minor like dusturbing the peace or trespassing.

This should be the next sherdog challenge. Everybody go to a public park and start working out there during the day. The story that brings the most hilarity wins.

i seriously question the motivations of anyone that *wants* to work out in front of kids. id be interested to know what city the TS lives in that does not have a park that is more adults thank kids. i live in a dirt poor city in a dirt poor county in rural northern california, we have a couple of kiddie parks, and a park that is for everyone, has a complete circuit with bars and benches for working out on.

seriously, stay out of the kiddie park, freak.
