I know a lot of people think it's dumb to still have the weigh in show and have the guys strip and get on the scale for no real reason, and I agree.
But watching 199, I noticed a few things.
Cardio across the board seemed to be less of an issue than usual. Guys didn't look drained like they sometimes to.
There were some absolute bombs thrown in several of the fights, and there were some cuts, but not nearly as bad as in some events. I don't know for sure that hydration has any effect an skin elasticity etc., but I suspect it does.
If guys can come in and go hard for all 3-5 rounds withougt having to worry about cardio, I'm all for the early weigh ins, and I would go a step further. Have them weighed at their USADA testing, too. Establish an upper limit for weight out of competition to remain in a weight class. That exact amount could be up for debate.
