I know a lot of people think it's dumb to still have the weigh in show and have the guys strip and get on the scale for no real reason, and I agree.

But watching 199, I noticed a few things.

Cardio across the board seemed to be less of an issue than usual. Guys didn't look drained like they sometimes to.

There were some absolute bombs thrown in several of the fights, and there were some cuts, but not nearly as bad as in some events. I don't know for sure that hydration has any effect an skin elasticity etc., but I suspect it does.

If guys can come in and go hard for all 3-5 rounds withougt having to worry about cardio, I'm all for the early weigh ins, and I would go a step further. Have them weighed at their USADA testing, too. Establish an upper limit for weight out of competition to remain in a weight class. That exact amount could be up for debate.

Tell that to the commissions. Right now, CSAC is the only one that does it. This wasn't the UFC's choice.

I agree. Could be a coincidence, but that event was all kinds of awesome!

"OURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR tale of the tape" should include actual weight too, like they do in boxing.

I also linked increased agility and durability to earlier weigh-ins, and thus I agree with your suggestion. Unfortunately, other commissions especialy NSAC (which is like a de-facto head commission) are reluctant to any positive changes.

They can still have a "weigh-in" show, just no need for them to strip and get on a scale while some guy has the most problems ever to read a scale and repeatedly asks the fighters to stay still...., they should do it just in fight gear imo, It was better than the old version, will see if the other AC´s follow.

California is the best state.

All you idiots are behind the times.

California always leads the way.

Agreed. Most of the fighters looked fresher, especially a couple rounds into the fights.
