I understand coming from a casual fan but many of you are not that casual.. Keep calling it LnP which is a weak concept with no meaning at all.. what you call LnP is actually pure wrestling. I heard so many people complaining about DC and even Lesnar tonight but even here? It's so obvious that you guys were all mad because the striking moments are more "appealing" you have your preference and that's fine but complaining and bitching about someone using wrestling to win then you are watching the wrong sport. If you just want to watch striking then why the f* you watch MMA? I know some of you might argue that you like ground game but someone like Maia, well that's BJJ and is part of the sport but wrestling is also part of the sport. Two different disciplines. Wrestling is about taking down (much superior to BJJ and even Judo techniques) and yes controlling your opponent (or what some if you ignorant people call just laying on top of other), obviously you don't know shit about wrestling and don't understand that is not easy and requires a lot of technique. Just because some make it look so simple doesn't mean it is. It is hard as hell to control another strong fighter like that. So please just STFU and stop watching the sport if you don't like the wrestling part that simple. You are f** annoying.

SILVA and HUNT got fuck via the awesome discipline of wrestling. Now go to sleep salty boys.

people find hugging boring......there is a reason why actual wrestling is nowhere near as popular as boxing. People like fist flying and not dry humping

Completely agree. Then why you watch MMA?

If it's not a just bleed slugfest then the average fan has no appreciate for it. They still crave the original Freakshow MMA fight rather than respect the strategy and skill involved in winning using BJJ or wrestling. Same reason soccer hasn't caught on in America, they are not going to waste their time trying to understand the skill involved in the game cause they just want to see scoring.

wrestling is not designed to finish an opponent; it is designed to neutralize an opponent.

This is not the UNC, (Ultimate Neutralizing Championships), this is the UFC.

why the "dislike towards wrestling"? most people find it more boring than the other aspects of the sport.

laying on someone and peppering them with light hits is lame. Silva did more damage to cormier with that kick to the ribs than cormier did while dry humping him for the whole fight.

Brock was using GnP DC not so much that was more Lnp

Your black and white way of explaining this reeks of noob.

soccer players are no more skilled than basketball players or American football players.

By the way, what country do you come from?

I was dissapointed in Cormier... if he was trying to mount Anderson when he had side control it was really fucking lazy

Are MMA rules designed to only win via finishing an opponent?

A catch wrestler would disagree with you. A lot of the BJJ submissions were taken from catch wrestling such as the kimura. It's a downward arm crank taken from catch wrestling.

wrestling by itself is not fighting. it's positioning and control. which is effective, but boring as shit. If those guys had used some effective GnP, which they ARE capable of, it would've been fine. But nobody likes watching a blanket.

This is BS. BJJ came from Kosen Judo. Actually Kimura was a Judoka from Japan that beat Helio Gracie using that technique (ude-garami) that's why they called Kimura.

Both were using GnP what are you talking about?
Brock was smashing hunt yes... if we had to count gnp hits Dc really hit Silva with I doubt it be more then dozen..maybe... it was weak a lot more holding down covering mouth doing nothing

The LHW champion couldn't do shit on the ground and was afraid to bang vs a 41 years old totally untrained coming off surgery Anderson Silva.

That's not "wrestling", that's "doing what I have to do to win". Sometimes it gets you booed.

I'm a wrestler and would like to agree but this is BS. BJJ came from Kosen Judo. There are pictures of Maeda using the Kimura and he was from Japan.

You don't think any of the wrestlers from Frank Gotch's era knew what a downward arm crank is?

people have been getting salty about one dimensional strikers getting grapplefucked since the beginning of time

I'm sure there were fans saying how bullshit it was that Royce Gracie won UFC 1

these stupid people just want sloppy barfights and knock outs

People wanted somethign different out of DC/Anderson but I'm not sure what they thought they were gonna get.

DC was fairly active on the ground and tried throwing some big shots. Anderson effectively stopped him from doing so. If they guy on the bottom stalls you out, it's hard for anyone on top to do much.

It wasn't great to watch but crowds of ppl here and other boards talking about 'worst ever LnP by DC' just goes to show how dumb MMA fans are in 2016. DC wasn't LnPing.
Sanchez on the TUF card was a good example of bad LnP.

People will always prefer standup fighters, it's just more visceral, but there was more appreciation for grappling battles back whenever.
Perhaps largely because it was new and no-one knew it so fans could feel badass thinking they could beat anyone up just because they watched UFC and knew what a submission was.

An illustrative comment on youtube (for the TuF finale between Suarez/Cooper) 'I wish Lanchana won instead, she was the only one willing to trade'.
That comment posted in the context of fight that finished in 1st round submission after some aggressive back and forth grappling and near subs. Ppl just want to see guys go out there and just bang, bro. You do wonder why they bother watching MMA when there is boxing, though.
