Please don't compare WMMA with WNBA...

WNBA players can't dunk, shoot fadeaway 3's, or block shots into the 3rd row.

There is no move in MMA that a woman can't do. Just look at the Tate-Kedzie fight:

What are you talking about? Did you even see the Rousey vs. Liz fight? Their striking HORRIBLE. It looked like they never trained striking in their lifes.

Ronda v Liz was a grappling match. There were no standup striking exchanges.

What are you talking about? Did you even see the Rousey vs. Liz fight? Their striking HORRIBLE. It looked like they never trained striking in their lifes. All they did was swing wildly and throw wild haymakers. They dont have 1/10 the striking skills that the man do and I might be a little generous on 1/10 the skills.

I like Women's MMA specifically because the grappling is usually superior to Men's MMA. Striking in MMA male or female usually isn't that great.

Anyway, women often get after it faster and and with more intensity. What's not to like?

WMMA is awful at this point of time anyways. Rousey gets an armbar 6 times straight, where is the competition? Nowhere.

And more casuals now wnba players much better than wmma fighters.

Let's not call wmma a massive success after one fight.

You are using sample of one statistics...which is a complete failure.

The womens have been competing in MMA for quite some time and have just now made onto the big show...which has been the big show for a decade plus or minus. So just because the first event between a gifted (literally handed a belt without ever fighting in the UFC) champ and a challenger, backed by a solid undercard containing a LHW title contendor match with major divisional and career implications, got semi-decent PPV numbers doesn't mean much.

Time will tell...but the average fan doesn't know spit about any of the other fighters out there not named Carano (retired?) or Cyborg (fight doesn't look like it will ever happen)...so there really is nothing to build on at the moment.

They're nowhere near the same. In WMMA women aren't limited to the things that a man can do like they are in WNBA. A man can do a triangle choke, KO, armbar, etc. and a women can do those things too.

In WNBA a women isn't going to throw a alley-oop from half court, no 360 dunks, etc. (things may have changed now, haven't seen a WNBA game in like 12 years lol)

Perfect example:

This is an absolutely contradictory post. First you say that in basketball women are limited compared to what the men can do based on their physical attributes, then say its different in MMA. How is it different at all? The comparison is exactly correct... women can play basketball and attempt all the same moves a man can, they just may not be as smooth doing it. In WMMA, they can attempt all the same moves a man can, they just may not be as smooth doing it.

Its 100% the same. You're contradicting yourself. Men can do cool basketball moves. Women can do cool basketball moves. Men can do cool MMA moves. Women can do cool MMA moves. But the level they do it at is different in both sports.

WNBA games average higher attendance than all MMA events except the biggest UFC arena shows.

That is not a fair comparison. MMA is a fairly new sport, and it was the first time WMMA hit the big stage.

Basketball has been here for how long?

WNBA isn't at all the same thing. WMMA has semi-attractive white women in close physical contact, WNBA doesn't.

And yes it is as bad as the WNBA or even worse skilled wise. Lets see these girls headline a card without an epic match like Machida vs. Dan. Then watch it bomb.

The only ones still comparing WMMA to WNBA r those idiots who refuse to watch a girl fight to begin with. there r JUST AS MANY men fighting whos striking skills arent up to par and TONS of girls with GREAT striking. if you no NOTHING about WMMA keep your mouth shut.

P.S. machida vs hendo was pretty much awful and rousey vs carmouche was a better fight

You must be trolling.

You know who else gets it on quicker? 10 year olds when they fight. It's spastic. I noticed it too. There is no feeling out process or strategy in most WMMA fights. The two just collide recklessly as soon as the bell rings. Like a fight in a high school hallway.

My problem is not that WMMA is boring. It is just watching chicks fight. Still, I think it is exciting.

They need a little more competition and it will get better.

You obviously weren't around when MMA first came out, it's not like the men looked all that great either. Give the girls 5-10 years and I can guarantee you their technique will be up there with the men. MMA will always be more exciting, but WMMA shouldn't be compared to WNBA, WNBA was just bad, I'd rather watch pickup games at the gym...

And it's funny that your only example is Ronda v Liz, Ronda isn't known to be a striker, she's known for her Judo. I mean really... What did you think about Maia vs Anderson? Maia showed great striking technique didn't he?

Well to be fair we heard the same spill about WNBA which was huge its first season. You heard a lot of "its a more pure game, it relies on basics and fundamentals and teamwork"

It wound up being a fad at best. People covered it and liked it the first season then it has just bled money ever since.

Womens boxing was similar, lot of hype and curiosity at first (mostly because of Ali) but it wound up being a fad as well.

Now these are some actual facts. Not the personal opinions disguised as facts in the original post.

Why would you think that? Women aren't up to the men's level in any other sport.

What possible reason would it be that women's mma is differebt than all other sports. All others the men are athletically better. What would possibly make mma different.

Maybe we have seen different fights. I notice plenty of technique. I'm not sure why you suggest a feeling out process in necessary for strategy to exist.

Based on what?

Technic-wise? Because some sports they are on par technically, they just lack athleticism, of course that can't be matched.

Who taught her the flawless headlock?
