Plants are far more “alive” and even “aware” than eggs/egg whites and milk.

There are literally 100 articles I can post about plants emitting noises when distressed. Trees in Florida self amputate limbs to get rid of parasitic moss. Even grass emits distinct odors when it’s cut.

Plants are alive and show desire to live.

Eggs and egg whites are literally just organic material. Milk is produced not to be alive, but literally just to feed living mammals. Unfertilized eggs literally do not have the potential to be a living thing in their state.

So basically it’s a joke. Being a vegan or vegetarian for “humane” purposes, without eating eggs or dairy is stupid, outside of allergies. Not giving a baby milk is, of course, insanity. Not mixing in organic egg whites to a vegetarian diet is bad.

You realise vegans don't object to dairy because they're worried about how the milk feels right?
The vegetarian movement was born out of a “be kind to animals” sentiment. Don’t lie. I’m sure modern vegans have morphed into some vastly more annoying premises, but at its core it’s all still “I don’t want to eat animals.”

breeding cows to just farm milk i think is a big reason they dont, imagine we had woman locked up in a place and just got them pregnant over and over again to just sell their milk

It'd be cool if my office plant would do something like leaf gesture to let me know when to water it.

Yeah, the animals, not the milk. I feel a lot of vegans would point to the cruelty in the dairy industry and the harm it does to animals, not the fact the milk feels sad.
There's other flaws in veganism from the cruelty perspective, lots of animals suffer due to farming of crops. This thread just misses a lot of points.

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but the milk industry and egg industry are both really hard on the animals. Actual meat production is arguably more humane.

Also, dairy cattle and chickens are both killed right after they are no longer productive. Non-productive dairy cattle are used as cheap processed meat. I'm not sure what happens to the chickens, but they don't just keep them around.

I'm not a vegan and don't care to stop consuming eggs or milk.

However, I think their argument is that animals that we use for products are treated inhumanely, and I can agree with them on this particular aspect, that we can treat them ethically.

Very true, most crops are for said animals though.

How many other animals go around sucking different mammals tits.. there's a reason the milk is produced when the mother is about to give birth to HER baby.

Plants don't have a nervous system, they haven't evolved to defend from "pain" in bajillions of years, I wonder why.

Do rocks also feel pain TS? Bunch of articles about that nonsense too.

Plants don't have a central nervous system and a brain like animals. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, nor do I tend to be swayed by their arguments, but at least I have a rudimentary understanding of them and can relay those arguments in good faith.
