However, during the process, once WME recognized Dana's supreme skills at fight promotion and running the business, they threw a lot of cash this way so he can grace them with his wisdom for at least 10 more years.

Dana was brought in at first as an employee of Ari Emmanuel. Now he is his friend and business partner.

This doesn't ring true at all.

Ari was already Dana's agent both personally and as the agents for the UFC. Who do you think put together the Fox deal? Ari was Dana's friend and agent years before the purchase, he wanted to be in business with Dana.

Ari had no intentions of running UFC operations, or keeping up with who is fighting who. That is a mile beneath him considering his greater role running the parent company. Dana is the bad guy who takes PR hits, can play hardball with fighters over their contracts and keeps the business rolling.

They made Dana a spectacular deal to stay in the business when the sale first occurred. There is no surprise they extended it.

That is not surprising to me. WME likes Dana to grow the business while not getting too involved.

But most of the time ex-CEOs like Dana who got a share of the business quit as soon as the transitioning period contract is over. I guess MMA is really his passion.
