Did Joe Savage ever see Cooper fight before? I can only imagine that the fight was set up at the behest of Savage and his team.

you only need to see one fight of Cooper’s to know that the guy gets in there with his Foreman cross armed defense and starts throwing big shots.

Out of all of the heavy weight boxers to test your chances against…. Bert Cooper had to be the worst

Who would be this generations Bert Cooper? Chisora and Whyte?

Oliver McCall stated that the hardest he has been hit was by Bert Cooper, and it was in sparring.

Did some internet sleuthing.

Apparently, Joe Savage was invited to participate in the one night "People's Champion" tournament in 1993. The event was won by Tony Tubbs.

Joe pulled out of the tournament, and I think was replaced by Willie Jackson.

Al Bernstein states that Willie was told he was going to join the tournament an hour before he stepped into the ring.

Willie and Joe should have fought for Joe's debut

Joe Savage must have been delusional about his own abilities. If he really was 40-0 "on the cobbles" he maybe just didn't understand the difference between street fighters and professionals.

excellent question idk man. I feel it's on the management not necessarily the fighter right?
