Phil can probably beat him too, that's what bothers me.

This. As limited as Davis is, his style is a tough one for Silva. If Davis can get on top he is a beast to deal with. AS doesn't have the greatest TDD and would be giving up a good deal of size. Silva's definitely the best fighter I would give Phil a decent shot against just based on the style matchup alone.

I'm sure he'd love to fight any big name striker in a lower weight class who he can takedown and smother. He's gonna call out Lawler and Pettis at this rate.

What an incredibly revealing thread.

How interesting. The fans of the guy who was marketed and believed (by many) to be the most skilled fighter the sport has ever seen doesn't stand a chance against a one dimensional wrestler. Fans running from the idea of this match up.

If there was any truth at all to the marketing campaign that took place all these years there would be a much different reaction. They would be jumping at the chance for Silva to beat someone like Phil Davis to add to his legacy.

It's just really hard to tell why this is happening. Just no possible answers.

Think I'm starting to go soft in my aging years I'm starting to feel sorry for Phil, he'll never get a title shot the classic gatekeeper good solid fighter but just lacks that thing.
If he really wants that gold he should maybe think Bellator?
In the UFC he's a good LHW in Bellator he gets to fight for a title...
