I always heard that Anselmo (frontman for Pantera) was a bit of a boxing fan.

But I didn't know how into the sport he really is.
People might be already well aware of this but he has some articles online that he wrote for boxing websites.

Then there's this photo from '07 with Anselmo facing off with Yuri Foreman.
To even know who Foreman was in 2008 is saying something about a boxing fan's interest in the sport:

I heard an interview of Anselmo's about a year ago on a sports radio station I listen, and the dude can definitely talk some boxing. The host only asked him a question or two, yet Anselmo went off for a good half an hour in all types of direction with boxing. It was some good stuff. Funny end to the interview too, but nobody's likely to get it unless you listen to the station.

He's also (or has been, at least) an ethusiast of pretty much every illicit drug known to mankind.

Hitler was a big boxing fan back in the day as well... hardly a ringing endorsement.

    (Although Pantera was the shit)

Here is a link some interviews I found but he writes for Boxing Digest and you have to sub. to read there site.

Phil Anselmo's After-Midnight Boxing Roundtable - TheBioFile.com :: The Official Website of Scoop Malinowski

Michael Marley's Boxing Confidential News, Analysis, and Commentary

Funny thing is when I read the interviews, I always pic him with a cigarette in mouth and hear a dark deep voice. I once saw Pantera at a dive bar in Dallas, they were sitting around drinking a shitload, the table top was full with beer bottles.

    You're right, Pulp.

Only those upstanding citizens with high moral values should be able to watch the spectacle of two combatants as they attempt to bash the shit out of each other's brains.

He's a massive boxing fan, I remember reading interviews with him back in the early 90s, where he stated that he often missed nights out with his mates, to 'stay home and watch the fights'.

Phil has been following boxing a long ass time. He know's his shit, I ve seen a couple of his articles he contributed and also I remember he wrote a boxing poem for a website a few years ago as well. I saw an interview of his recently and he was wearing a Wlad Klits shirt. I also remember going to a Pantera concert back in the day and he asked the crowd if they were going to watch the Trinidad fight. Phil's a bad mofo, I know he's been training boxing to rehab himself after his back surgery as well.

"Turn the hand over" on the cover?
Maybe he's really old-school with the vertical fist.
