I believe we should have one thread dedicated to news. Statements, retirements, everything like that, should be posted in one thread, started by a mod so not attention whores will have their whoring.

First offense, warning.
Second offense, dubs.
Third offense, your troll account becomes bae.

Fuck this 30 threads with the same tweet shit and the mods having to merge them faster than I can reply. If you have news post it in the official news thread. This leaves room for actual discussions and leaves time for mods to actually moderate you retarded twats. If you can't use the fucking search engine, you are too stupid to be breaking news anyway. Let's dumb it down for you ignorant bastards. One news thread for breaking news. This will also thin out the member roll, because people are too stupid to follow even that rule.
 
I mean, sometimes when breaking news comes in several people post it at once. I've had several of my threads merged into a megathread because I was a few seconds late. I've also had threads merged into mine. Does that mean anyone deserved dubs? Also, news sometimes comes in later and people want to make sure that part of the story gets attention.

Sounds like a junk plan to me.

Sounds like if you had a dedicated thread to post it in, you would have seen the post directly above yours was exactly what you were about to post. Plan success confirmed.

No, because I would be making the thread and adding in sources before I even saw it.
 
MMA news threads are typically the most interesting and discussion-laden. Take those away and all we have is fantasy threads and nuthugging/bashing threads.

No you would be posting it in a single news thread or you would be banned. If you fuck it up a few times, natural selection takes over.

So, take away a posters individuality and opinions for the sake of organization?

Yea not gonna happen.
It would do nothing to stop the threads and having an opinion and wanting to voice it in your own thread is what a discussion board is all about.
I get you hate duplicate threads, and yea they can be a pain for me as well as the mod staff, but regardless of how many threads pop up on a subject, the best one's will rise to the top.

As for the popular stories, we generally make a stickied thread for the bulk of the conversation at the top of the forums

No you don't take away their individuality or their right to comment. You just say if you have news to break this is where you place that news. People can comment in there or make a post outside of there with their opinions on non breaking news. Let's not pretend there are 30 things breaking at once. It's always one thing and 300 of the same post. It's not like they are adding commentary anyway, because in the time they add an opinion, they would be preempted. Their lack of commentary accompaniment is proof that this is so.
 
I'm thinking mahi mahi tacos for lunch with lime slaw and Pico de gallo.
 
That's what the front news page is for.

Also, making one thread about all news, would be a huge mess. And what else would people make threads about if it didn't have some part of news in it.

Things that aren't breaking news. If your post is a tweet with no commentary, nothing to discuss but the tweet, then it can go in that thread. And nobody will ever again have to say "oh I didn't see that was already posted 30 times" because it will be the previous 30 posts in that very thread.
