Now that Ngannou is gone I don't see anyone beating Stipe. Even in the second fight with Francis he would have won if he did not fight so passive. In the first fight he was much more aggressive and kicked Francis ass.

Stipe in the first Big Frank fight might be my favorite fighter :D

That guy wasn't losing to anyone in the world - Crazy what feeling overlooked can do to a person :)

Pink Goof wasn't putting that belt on Stipe <45>

He's 40, he hasn't fought in two years and was horribly knocked out by N'Gannou in his last fight and endured a knockout and many concussions vs Cormier in his fights prior. Stipe is arguably the greatest HW in UFC history but his career is done, especially in regards to the title. Anyone who wants to see Stipe fight for the belt over the winner of Blaydes vs Pavlovitch is not in their right mind.

Me too TS. But it’s not a popular opinion. Sucks that he was so inactive in the last few years. I hope he somehow regains the strap, does not allow Dana to put it on him in the cage (again) and then retires for good.
Unlikely, but would love to see it.

lol he is barely top 5 now skillwise, old + not active + got kod last fight

Would love to see how he deals with Gane. That's a sick fight, hope it's next after Gane KO's juice head.

I prefer the style match up (Gane vs Stipe), but yes, in a perfect world, the winner of that fight is next. Not in their right mind huh? Hm, I'll let you figure that one out.

Stipe has looked past prime since he fought old fat DC 4 years ago.

It's weird how so many people have high hopes for him and Jon Jones with how average they looked even before their long layoffs

He did look pretty good against DC. That was in 2020 though. He might have another good fight or two in him but I wouldn't count on it.

Stipe needs to fight someone upon returning. He will have sat out for 2 and a half years at 41 years old coming off a really bad KO loss if he were to face the winner of Gane vs Jones. Anyone who thinks that Stipe should fight for the title next is not within their right mind, it's an absurd opinion.

Have Stipe fight the winner of Spivak vs Lewis or Volkov vs Romanov? I wouldn't even mind Stipe vs Aspinall if Aspinall is healthy. But Jesus these Stipe fans acting like he should get the next title shot remind me of ostriches with their heads in the sand.

Ok, but then Jones is unranked. Getting unfair title shots is almost like the norm these days.

Yes but Jones is undefeated and this move has been in the works the whole time. The only issue is the time off. With Stipe you have the time off plus age plus the fact that he got crushed last fight. You also had Gane look much, much better against Francis in the meantime.

It would be a cool story if Stipe returns and wins but I would bet on him to get stopped by any of his likely opponents (Gane, Blaydes, Pav). If he’s serious about coming back for multiple fights it would be better to come back against someone easier to see where he stands IMHO.
