The biggest fight card of the year for Bellator, a legit great card with interesting cross promotion fights and no UFC to compete. Bellator had a chance to leave a lasting impression on the MMA world headed into the new year. And....... they decide to tape delay their fuckin card. What serious pro sport tape delays the biggest event of the year. Can't take them seriously, and think they should just shut down and allow the talent to go to a promotion that takes this shit serious. Fuck you Scott. Happy New Years

I guess they got paid to be there for the ride and the event to happen on Japan prime time, it was a perfect opportunity for a US card, but this is a Japan thing.
We're in the days of streaming though, tape delays were a thing of the past and were done to maximize TV ratings for events that happened at odd times because that was directly tied to ad dollars. Why couldn't they just run it live on their app and leave the replay available after? Makes no sense. Bellator and showtime stuck in the 80's. A fuckin tape delay lmao some early PFL shit

Tape delay's on streaming app is stupid. Like how did no one in the Bellator office think of that?

Agreed 100%, btw, if you are not in the US (and probably Canada) you could watch on Youtube, or use a VPN.

Wouldn't say it's their biggest card of the year but yeah Bellator sucks and Coker is an incompetent clown

Oh trust me I have my ways lol I just think it's weird and just solidifies Bellator as a non threat. UFC getting sued over cornering the market yet their competitors doing dumb shit like this haha idk who to blame

When I found out I was borderline aghast. I was very much looking forward to this card as much as any this year aside from 4 or 5 UFC ppvs. It's incontrovertible that Bellator dropped the ball(no NYE pun intended) on this one, big time.

Yeah there really needs to be someone else running Bellator, Coker isn't the person that's going to make Bellator on par with UFC. With their financial backing and connections Bellator should be way bigger than it is. Coker using old strategies and focusing on UFC's cut fighters was the main problem before. If you build all your cards on fighters that UFC let go, you will only be viewed as 2nd rate promotion and will always be under UFC. This is why ONE is doing so much better than Bellator in the way it's viewed and just overall progress in a shorter amount of time. Someone like Coker has always been fine not being number 1 and will not really work towards being the top promotion. There just wasn't many people who had mma promotional experience that's why Coker got picked up. But he's always been happy building promotions under UFC and just trying to pick up who UFC let's go instead of building their own stars.

They’ll never make it to the big leagues while it’s so hard to find illegal streams. Any Sherbro help a bro out

Coker is both great for Bellator(getting the CBS deal) and the worst thing to ever happen to it.

I couldn't agree more. A fuckin tape delay lol such fucking weakness and stupidity. That was a thing back in the PRIDE days, the VHS days. It shows that they don't take this seriously. They themselves look at Bellator- or maybe even mma- as this niche thing where the fans will jump through hoops to get their mma. And, at least in my case, they're right about that. But fuck them anyway!

Hes great at acquiring talent and building credbility. In terms of managing a roster and using the talent he signed he's horrible. This was true in Strikeforce too.

He's better than the guy who tried to turn Bellator into a tournament gimmick though. Bellator is definatley the strongest it's ever been but Coker is quote "underacheiving".

At that time,It was only hardcore US/Europe fans watching Japanese MMA,and we were either willing to watch it on tape delay,or find a stream and watch it at 3 in the morning. This way of doing things doesnt fly today.

I've been saying for a long time that Coker doesn't know what direction he wants to take Bellator, he doesn't even know what to do with his fighters. Fans and fighters love him because he's "nice" guy that they can exploit into paying good money without the profit.

With a name like "Bellator" they will never be much.
"Strikeforce" was a great high energy name but the UFC took them out too much of a threat
