People will be surprised how easily Makhachev takes down JDM

what the fuck are you even talking about? Moicano is not a better striker than any of the guys he got knocked out by lmao, what is this? you're blowing my mind because i feel like i'm talking to an AI Bot.

Do they even teach you guys to read?

We'll see. Islam didn't complete dominate Poirier (notoriously weak TDD) or Volk (FW) with his wrestling and TDs like many predicted. I'm sure the extra weight and less impact of a weight cut will help Islam...but the tradeoff is he'll be fighting a bigger opponent that he's used to. I'm not going to make a dramatic prediction either way, but I'm not sold on the idea of Islam dominating JDM and the rest of 170.

yeah, but what about the striking? Islam's last fight he got bubble guts facing off against "i can only jab" Moicano and slipped on a banana peel in there before he reverted to his wrestling. he does that kind of weird shit vs JDM he might be taking an early nap
I like Moicano, but this was kind of like Al Iaquinta filling in for Khabib's title fight...except Iaquinta has better submission defense.

Literally no one thinks that hazmat can’t take DDP down.

The question is, can he continue to do it in the 3rd round and beyond.

It's brave of him to take the leap, but the actual chances he will be able maintain a championship in the current WW division are precisely zero.

You are talking about a guy who struggled against not even the best FW; that is a total pipedream he will be able to move up and beat the murderer's row at WW right now.

I don't see him beating JDM, but even if he does win, he won't beat all of these other guys.

Wouldnt be surprised at all, probably one of the easier match ups for Islam at WW and just the perfect opponent to steal that WW belt.
This reminded me of comments made when Adesanya went up to fight Jan. There were a lot of people calling it a very easy match for Izzy, just like people say now that it’s an easy fight for Makachev. I don’t think it will be easy at all.

“He slipped when fighting Moicano, what a can!”

Jack is amazing, but I have a feeling the weight cut was hurting Islam more than helping. He also fights really big guys all the time in his camps and daily training. Also, he messed DP up in that fight. I think I saved the tweet from Dustin listing all his injuries after, and they were all really severe. From a spectator's view, Islam's striking looks really violent, and for the first time, I agreed with people who always thought his striking was really good. Jack is going to get hurt closing the distance, and so is Islam. For some reason, I feel this is where Islam has wanted to be for a while now.

Yes he does. And that is at FW/LW.

But Islam is the one going up this time. And his opponent is very good on the feet. And he probably hits harder than anybody Islam has faced before?

I guess we’ll see.

Eh, Oliveira hits much harder than Moicano and is a better striker, yet he couldn't get anything going.
It's dumb to think in such a strict way, it's people beating each other up, shit happens, you tell me that in potentially 15 to 25 minutes one such as Moicano is SO unlikely to put his hands on a better striker ONCE? No shame in having trouble v. him. Plus Makhachev finished him shortly after too.

It's really no big mystery to me. Moicano's a great fighter, it was short notice so no one really game planned, they fucked each other up and Mak won.

It's wild seeing people compare Makhachevs wrestling grappling to Belal. JDM has a real shot at knocking Makhachev out but it all comes down to how well Makhachev adjusts to WW.

If Makhachev is even 10-15% better if will be a short night for JDM & I see him getting subbed.

We have seen this story where 36 year old Colby Covington & Kamaru Usman struggled to get Leon Edwards down & people started claiming that Leon has elite take down defence, then we saw what happened when Leon fought a younger Brady.

Belal is 36 & coming off a 10 month lay off after a life threatening injury, his takedown entries looked terrible in the JDM Fight.

I was previously leaning towards a JDM KO but the more footage I watch, as long as Makhachev doesn't gas early due to the extra weight I see if subbing JDM.

This is an excellent fight, can't wait for it.

I think you'll also be surprised by how easily Jack stands back up.

He has no intention of maintaining the championship

against no defense zombies like BSD? sure. against the best in the world? not a chance. Korean Zombie, Fiziev, Jose Oldo, they all wrecked him.
You can’t really compare Islam having a full camp to prepare for JDM versus finding out he’s fight Moicano the night before. The risk in striking is astronomically higher when you haven’t prepared for that specific fighter and don’t know their tendencies, strengths, weaknesses, etc. It’s especially true for the Islam/Khabib crew because they study tape and heavily rely on tailored game plans. It’s one of the reasons Khabib didn’t look as dominant and usual against Iaquinta.
