He took some intense shots from Chris in the rematch from his GnP. The shot that made me go, "damn!" at how good Silva's chin still was, was the dropping punch Chris landed at the end of the round. He came from a standing position and dropped all the way down, and it landed. Silva didn't even flnch at it, and still seemed to have his faculties in tact.

The punch that dropped him landed on the temple, and that's where everyone is weak.

Yeah.

If I recall correctly, didn't Sonnen also knockdown Silva in the first fight? Silva was always susceptible to a flash knockdown here and there.

I do think he used to take shots better though, I think a KO loss like the one with Weidman was similar in effect to the loss Roy Jones jr. suffered vs. Antonio Tarver. I do think you only get to take so many shots to the head in your career. Some guys just never seem to go away (Mark Hunt has always been very dependable), others, you see their resistance to going down erode over time (Chuck Liddel for example).

Silva never would have been dropped in the clinch in his prime. We knew his chin was shot by the Sonnen fight. He got dropped by his pillow fists.

It's a surprise his chin lasted as long as it did. This is a guy from chute box days. This is a guy who used to spar without head gear taking bombs from JDS. He had been getting hit in the head for 20 years straight in training. He was very lucky it didn't go by the age of 30 like Shogun.

Also let Jorge Rivera tee off on him.

Silva still has a great chin.

He ate some shots from Bisping like they were nothing.

Did you have to make a thread about this im sure you could have just left it as a comment somewhere.

Chin seems to be one of those things that just goes all the sudden. Guys with iron chins all the sudden start to get dropped more often, also reflexes are getting slower so they get hit more. Then the KO's start to come. All the hard sparring, amateur fights, professional fights, it adds up.

You literally could've skipped over this thread, and called it a day, yet you decided to piss me off. That wasn't smart, now was it?

more like he lost his confidence coming in the Weidman's fight.
let's be honest, a lot of people were confident that due to size, wrestling and ground skills Weidma'd have been the most difficult opponent Silva's ever faced.
and being KOed didn't help him.
AND having his leg snapped didn't help him.

plus he is not a young guy anymore, but still think the primary reason of his decline is the loss of confidence.

Yeah...sure, coincidentally his chin is "shot" the first time he gets dropped. Or maybe Anderson is just human and susceptible to getting hurt by a punch at any time depending how it lands like everyone else.
