I just see it as risky. He's going to stand up and pull the arm out.
That's the counter to an armbar too. What makes the omoplata so much different?
The idea on both submissions is that you break your opponent's posture to prevent him from pulling his arm out.
There are tons of guys in both gi and no gi who use the omoplata just as frequently as an armbar.
