Remember that bit I posted a few weeks ago? The gun control one? That bit has really exposed Jefferies to a very liberal audience. Many people who saw that and that alone bought tickets to his Freedumb tour around the world. There ended up being people protesting his show saying he supports and encourages rape.
Those that know his comedy, know there's a lot of shock humor, and extremely offensive material delivered in a way that you can't help but laugh at. his delivery makes it clear, they're just jokes.
The amount of times I've heard "rape jokes are never funny" is ridiculous. And to many comics, being told they can't only reaffirms the fact that they will.
In his new special on Netflix, Jefferies opens up with "Bill Cosby" and launches off into 10 minutes of rape jokes.

People shouldn't have been surprised, considering the last article was written in 2009.
The consensus with a lot of his detractors are that he's encouraging rape, and saying rape isn't that bad. Which.. Is absolutely retarded, but what bothers me most. Is that people are almost in agreement of "well... I found that other part that may have offended someone else hilarious, but the thing that offended me is sacred and shan't be joked about."
Which is a hypocrisy that needs to be confronted as such.
Here's the special so you can see the jokes for yourself, if you only want to see the rape jokes just watch the first ten minutes.

[Comedy festival] Fringe 2009 also welcomes back Aussie standup Jim Jeffries, whose jokes include: “Women to me are like public toilets. They’re all dirty except for the disabled ones.” Jeffries tells me: “You can’t do a joke these days about black or Asian people – and rightly so – [but] you can do rape jokes on stage and that’s not a problem.” Why does he think rape is now less of a taboo than racism? “I don’t write the rules,” he says. Nor, it seems, does he seek to challenge them. [San Francisco comedian Scott] Capurro told me, with some distaste: “For a lot of comics, it’s OK to talk about raping women now. That’s the new black on the comedy circuit.”
