When people say a fighter or athlete is at his peak, for a fight,is there a way you could explain this,is it a time when your body is at its strongest?,How do you know when this is? Sorry if this is a bad question.

I read in an interview with Tito Ortiz, that he sleeps late,so that he will peak closer to fight time,is that b.s.?

Most professional athletes train in cycles. Peaking is structuring your cycles so that you are able to be in the best condition for your event as possible. For instance a fighter needs to have the cardio to fight a 15 minute fight in three months. He probably trains cardio every day the first month, but it is not the main focus. The fighter will up his cardio about a month away from the fight to make sure it is at its peak.
A powerlifter alters his volume and training intensity so he has his maximal power in the big three on the day of a competition.

Depends: there are peaks in careers, and peaks in cycles of periodization.
