“Yes, I am going to Melbourne,” Costa told BJPENN.com. “Dana White is sending me there and said I get the next title shot. I fight the winner of Whittaker-Adesanya.

Whittaker vs. Adesanya is widely viewed as an exciting and competitive matchup. Yet Paulo Costa does not agree with those sentiments. He thinks Whittaker wins the fight and doesn’t think much of Adesanya.

“I can beat both,” Costa explained. “I think Adesanya is a fake champion. He hasn’t fought anyone tough. He is a skinny clown. I have a personal problem with him. If he beats Whittaker, which I don’t think, I’m going to kill him. He doesn’t stand a chance against me. As for Whittaker, he is good, tough guy. He is not as strong as Yoel, so I can take him. He is like Yoel with less power, so I can beat both of them. I really want Adesanya, though.”

Paulo Costa is expecting to fight Robert Whittaker for the title next. Yet, if Israel Adesanya comes out on top, the Brazilian believes it is an easier fight for him, and one that ensures he will be the next UFC middleweight champion.

As for when he wants that to fight happen, Costa is hoping for early 2020.

“I want to fight in January against whoever wins in October. UFC is the boss, so they will decide when it will happen. I want that fight in January.”

What is the significance in him going? So they can pan the camera to him?

Most of the contenders are scared of Yoel & Paulo so they switch divisions, so it's pretty thin now...

I can see why he's flying over there.
 
Cmon, we all know that Israel can survive the first 2 rounds and then Costa is gassed. Costa can win a 3 rounder, but 5 wont help him at all.

the real question is, can he take costa's body shots? Yoel took them, but he's a much thicker dude than israel. Israel has a small frame, which give him the speed advantage, but might backfire on him if costa finds success with his body shots.
 
As strong as he is not on adesanya's level of striking.

Probably that and the guest fighter Q&A, signings, VIP meet n greet etc. They get paid to do that.
Think he said he wasn't interested in being a short notice fill in at the post fight presser.
 
I think he blasts the fuck out of Israel QUICK to be honest. As for Whitaker, unfortunately Yoel put some serious miles on the boy, dont think he's fully regenerated after those wars.
