Pathetic Copycat: Colby, the Conor wannabe

At least Conor has good style at press conferences, Colby's suit was meh, grey tie with white shirt and pinstripe navy blue blazer doesn't work well.

Woodley vs Colby is going to be a huge fight.

I called this months ago

Maia put hands on that punk, RDA is going to finally shut that piece of shit up. Yep.

He’s the corniest active fighter currently.

I find him hilarious. I love when people get in over their head.

Is that a boomerang or a double-ended dildo on RDA's tshirt? Lol either way

Colby was a pretty reserved, respectful guy quietly going about his UFC career.

Before he started putting on a character, he spoke openly about having a tough upbringing, his family being financially stressed but working hard to keep him in wrestling so he could achieve. He made it a point to say how he wanted to do well so he could help take care of his folks to pay them back.

Sonnen showed everyone that being brash and uncouth could translate, literally, into millions of dollars in PPV money and opportunity. Conor took the absurdity of it up to the next level, and now you have people like Colby copying them.

Don't blame Colby.

Blame the shart-birds at the UFC who've run this like a celebrity circus instead of a sport. When 'get attention at all costs' is the standard rule sent down by the bosses, this is what you get. Colby was quiet and winning fights and didn't get a push from the office.

Personally I'd much prefer this thing be ran like an actual sport - get a seat at the table and be taken seriously as a meritocracy - and build a fan base organically. Instead its a freak show where MMA is largely ignored other than a few tent pole events a year that finance the whole thing.

Then again, I'm a jabroni on the internet and WME spent 4 billion dollars. They'll do as they please.

He needs better writers for his material. His pea brain has about 3 insults memorized.

Maybe he could hire Paul Heyman to right the ship.

For real. Maia pretty much just has grappling and tagged him well. RDA has the whole package

I get what you say, but people have choices. He could keep being the same guy, finishing fights in flashy ways and not being known for being a Clown

did he just do the spirit fingers lmao

yeah but like the dude is barely getting any extra attention out of this so you can definitely blame him at this point

just gauge the reaction he gets from the crowd compared to people that don't act like a desparate attention whore. even the amount of boos he gets aren't anywhere near as loud as the cheers to almost every guy on stage

it isn't panning out. lmao

I think he is hilarious, too funny watching everyone get so offended.

Usman made he said that about Brazil. Has he ever been?

I agree, but there are a few pretty obvious problems fighters face right now.

One - fighters have absolutely no advocacy. Winning doesn't mean much, and it certainly doesn't get you a marketing push by the UFC or opportunities and a pay raise. Two - the UFC will wring you out like a towel and toss you in the bin when they've decided their done squeezing you.

Three, and this is the important part - the current field of fighters are all astutely aware their bosses reward brash behavior. Acting out directly impacts their opportunity to feed their family.

DJ is a quiet, squared away, consummate professional. He's also one of the most talented fighters in the history of the sport. The UFC treats him with open hostility.

I don't like antics and theatrics like Conor and Colby employ, but I understand why they feel they need to do it considering how the UFC money machine is setup to reward that behavior.
