Yes, the video library is worth a lot more than a contracted fighter.
No one is buying a company just to have their fighters. Fighters aren't employees. If a company wanted MVP they would just sign them in free agency.
The UFC bought Pride for the same exact reason. Video library and an attempt at a network deal in Japan (which didn't go through). Most of the fighters in Pride weren't included in the deal. Most of the Pride alumni came on brand new contracts after the fact.
In PFL's case it was for the roster, they're not actually doing anything with the video library.
